Hey guys. My power antenna was snapped off and shot! So i bought a complete replacement hit with motor and mast and everything. Well i stripped the old one out and theres 5 wires to it! The new antenna only has 2 wires(red and blue). Whats what with the these wires? Does someone have a manual to look up in and see what color wire is what. It would be great if you do! Thanks

Sorry I don't have useful info.

But I would just like to say, I ripped out my antenna, I don't listen to the radio, so havwe no use for it, If I could find it, I would be more then happy to give it to you.

I need to replace my antenna as well actually... Let me know if you get any helpful info? Oh btw... what kind of antenna did you get?

Now that I think of it.... the old antenna setup probably included: 12volt pos, neg, remote, and two lines from the antenna itself... Do you have any idea what the new antenna has coming from it?

Go down to an auto parts store and get a Haynes manual.  They should let you open it there.  Check the wiring diagrams in the back to see if you can source the wire.  By the way, do you really want the electric antenna?  Cause if you don't, it's way easier to throw in a straight semi-retractable type.  What are the colors of the old wires?  Have you tested them with a voltmeter?  I'm guessing, (just guessing) that those refer to ignition, so when the car turns off completely, the abscence of voltage tells the motor to retract in one wire.  The other is probably a ground.  I'm not sure.  Are you sure you got the right antenna?

No, actually it's a signal that comes from the radio that tells the antenna to retract or expand. I stand by my theory...

So the antenna doesn't come up whenever the car is on?  Just when the radio is on?  If that's the case...I haven't ever had a vehicle with an electric antenna.  I say put in a permanent up one.  No clipping it off in the car wash there.

hehe, no doubt. I wanna get one of those really small antennas that look like a cell antenna, but most of them are really ugly. I've seen a few decent ones... but they weren't for a 240sx

transient you're definately right about the radio telling the antenna to go up. i really need a new antenna too, it doesn't go up anymore. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Mine broke too, I was listening to the radio on my way home to Flagstaff in the snow and when I shut the car off the antenna was frozen up, it no longer moves but you can hear the motor.

Hmm... might be able to rig the switch, but it would only work if the radio was on. U just put the switch in series with the remote power antenna lead.
