The next drift event, April 6 at Irwindale Speedway
again. AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE DRIFTER, Manabu Orido
from RSR will be there!! His reputation is just as
same as the drift king in Japan. I will be going for
sure, and just wondering who else will be going from NOR CAL too?

you know i'll be there pat! hopefully driving this time, although money has been EXTREMELY tight lately, i was barely able to make it out to LA for the last one this past weekend. my new tires should be here on monday, the Dunlops, so i will have time to get used to them. i migh just keep a couple of my old tires to beat up on for the rears. we'll see. but yeah 90% sure that i'm going, 50% sure that i will be signing up to drive.

d00d... I'm really, really torn on this one. I don't know if I should pay just an extra $10 for the advanced course (and less actual track time) or if I should stick with the $80 (or is it 85?) "novice" course to get more seat time...
tough choice...
I know I'm not going to make it through to second round, so would the morning of practice on the "advanced" course be worth it? ... or would I just be making a fool of myself? .... all legitimate questions that I will need to answer myself between now and registration!

Dousan_PG
03-07-2003, 07:35 AM
NO you wont be making a foolof yourself!!!!!
just less seat time
the only way to get better is always: balls out. gotta push it but not over push it.
but if you want more seat time, go w/ the smaller group

the courses for the beginner/intermeidated SUCKED on sunday. bleh. waste of $.

Actually, I am pondering the same question that of Adey's... Check the info on the event, the setup will be in the oval track. I want to compete again(too much fun, too much...), but I really don't want to get acquainted w/ the wall... So, yea, it is a tough choice...

Is there anyone from San Diego going to the event, and also who knows how to get presale tickets? The number on club 4ag goes to some guys home answering machine.

I probably won't be able to make it to this one. Or if I do go, I'm probably just gonna watch. Trying to save up money for a 2-way LSD now. -_-; So ... tempted ... to ... get ... credit card...!!!

And yeah, I was sort of disappointed at the novice/intermediate courses last Sunday. Oh well, $40. For $85 maybe they'll have something better.

I agree! Orido is my fav too. I must get a pick with him. Since I dont have a digi-cam, I must ask someone to take it for me. hah...maybe John or Danny. Anyways, Adey... you got a tough choice. As for me, gonna go with beginner/novice cause its my 1st and I am worth nothing...to anybody..well not really *ramblings* Dousan, good luck in the comp. :) Janet, Danny see you guys there and John...lets hope you make it up with ANY car.

ny_ jee, I beleive if you check out the events web site it says that advance pratice and comp. will be inside the oval track, fairly large skidpad like area no walls. Novice Intermediate will be in parking lot which will hopefully allow novice to have a better variety course sections. God Speed to my L.S.D. getting here in time.

Dousan_PG
03-10-2003, 03:08 PM
um...i dont think intermediate will be THAT BIG. they are expecting about 3,500 spectators. no joke!! those specators need a parking lot to park in, so dont bank on huge open spaces for the intermediate/beginner sections.

and the inside DOES have a wall enclosing it w/ 2 (iirc) openings which are wide and such. but the sidepad type aera is pretty big. but the walls are definately there!! and a light pole in the middle.

Club 4ag posted that mainstream would sell tickets as of today but i called mainstream and said i got the wrong info, is this event even for sure? If it is how the heck do we get tickets i mean damn!

Dousan_PG
03-10-2003, 03:15 PM
this event IS for sure. just keep your pants on and wait. you'll have plenty of time to get the tickets. it still 1 month away (well, a few days short of 1 month)

the people who want to drive cant even register yet last time i checked.

adey
03-10-2003, 07:16 PM
Seut! that means that we won't be able to watch you advanced driphtorz and Manabu Orido drive?!! That suxorz d00d! Okay sorry about my stupid haxorz language. I'm feeling feisty (all this drift talk is getting to me!) ... shooot shoot shoot... I may actually consider signing up for advanced..... :o

ny_jee
03-10-2003, 08:16 PM
No worries, Adriel. Read the event info again. It's just like the last event. All drivers have all access pass to everything. Regardless you are advance or novice. The only restriction for novice drivers is their CARs aren't allowed in Advance course. So, you'd still get to meet Orido san, no problem there.

kurissuS13
03-17-2003, 07:46 PM
is it VERY difficult to drift in an automatic? i think i might end up borrowing my friend's auto S14 for this event. assuming there are any open spots in the practice group left...

kurissuS13
03-18-2003, 08:35 PM
WOO-HOO! just registered for the practice group! now, to find a damn helmet...

if u see a blue NA FC, or a burgundy S14, that should be attempting to drift with a non-LSD equipped car. if u see a zenki black S13 w/ Apexi N1-type exhaust, that could be me, but don't go to the car. chances are, it'll smell like wacky tabacky. :D

SEE Y'ALL THERE!

OMG! I am such a dumbass. I lagged it on registering in for the practice entry...was going to do it tonight. I just went to the registration link and it says FULL!! I am pretty steamed right now....really my fault. I checked this week and was going to pay for it. The thing was I wasnt sure what to do about filling out the form. Anyone know if I can still register?? DOH! I suck... :(

EDIT: This will now be the second time I will not get to practice. :(

I am a sad man.

EDIT 2: I couldn't get into the reg sheet, so can someone pass me the email or phone number who I can contact to see if I can do anything (I remember it being on the reg sheet)? Thanks.

u could try contacting moto or naoki at club4ag.

[email protected] & [email protected]

i think the only thing they can do for u is to put u on a waiting list, if they have one or if they are doing that sorta thing.

Anyone who has tried to contact mainstream and cant get through for presale tickets, mainstream dosent have the tickets for spectators, they have been dispursed to different shops, Im in San Diego and I had to go to Group 5 to get my tickets, I know signal is another shop who has presale tickets, but you have to go to the shop to buy them.

I think the competition course was closed but the practice day was still open earlier in the week. Either way, I DID snooze and therefore lost. Bummer. :(

hey kurissuS13, was that you and your friends I met at G Speed? Didn't catch your names, but that sucks you didn't meet any of the requirements. If you need any help with your car, give me a heads up. Hope your car passes inspection at least tomorrow. If i had an extra helmet, I'd kick it over, but I'm using my only one. Good luck. Oh yeah, thanks for the directions to Signal auto.

kurissuS13
04-04-2003, 10:10 PM
was that u with the S14? i'm prty frustrated that the car didn't pass tech. now, me and my friends are scrambling to get it ready by tom nite. ARGH!!! most of the things that didn't pass about the car can be easily fixed, it's the helmet that's the biggest problem. my friend told me to check with some motorcycle shops for a suitable helmet, so ima try to do that once i get outta work.

if u kno anyone that might have a spare XL Snell apprv'd helmet, pls give 'em my number. i would REALLY appreciate it.

oh, it's good to see that u got Signal Auto safely. did u get the tickets that u needed? if u want, i could ask my friend to stop by the place in westwood and get a couple tix for ya, if u need it. he's gonna be at Hollywood Park for that Mazda RevItUp, so maybe he can stop by there. lemme kno.

04-04-2003, 10:35 PM
Yeah that heap was my s14. I ended up not needing the extra tickets, but thanks for asking. I'll ask around about the helmet, but I don't think it will do any good because I would have borrowed it by now and using that instead of buying my HJC. Yeah, you should try a motorcycle shop or call up some import car shops. No worries, you'll find one before the time is up.
