Ok well i was browsing ebay to buy a fuel pump, when i suddenly came across this.
DELRIM SOLID MOTOR MOUNTS
eBay Motors: 240SX Solid Motor Mount S13 S14 S15 180SX SR20DET (item 350167089322 end time Feb-22-09 23:17:59 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240SX-Solid-Motor-Mount-S13-S14-S15-180SX-SR20DET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33736QQihZ022QQ itemZ350167089322QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
They are solid motor mounts by delrim. Now has anybody has any experiences on these. I want solid mounts but i dont know if i should go AVID or this. Since these are cheap i dont if im going to have to buy more than just once.

dont buy them. get avid or something similar. i have project nissan, sort of off-brand of avid and cusco. IMO if you buy those, might as well do the old hockey puck thing.

eww.. 60$ plus shipping? I'm sure you can run to a machine shop and get it made from delrin or aluminum for cheaper.
Solid mounts are okay. They shake everything [moreso on the KA thant he SR (borexstroke)]. There are some that say "Solid everything breaks everything." I wouldn't know.

i have Kazama solid mounts and i love um... IMO Kazama ftw.

Oright so i guess im going to be avoiding that $60 motor mounts.
But what about the other solid mounts you guys have? Are they really that bad shaking up the whole car? And you guys are saying nismo is crappy also?. =[.
I dont want my car rattling all up in the interior since its going to be my DD. So im going to lean on the nismo ones here for now. Share my own experience with it. Thanks fellas!

I too have to agree the Nismo mounts are weak.
OP, Do not get Delrin mounts or anything solid. They are way too stiff. Get some sort of poly-urethane.

if its your daily, nismo's would be more than enough, you would be fine with stock replacements.

i have the solid ones from touge factory, the cusco/kazama style.
i personally love them. fucking everything feels like its gonna explode, like i welded the fucking engine to the car.
but then again i like weird shit.

Delrin. CNC machined from DELRIN.

i have those (got em for $40 shipped lol) but i only use them when i go to drag/drift events. They feel just as if the motor is welded to the chassis SOLID! EVERYTHING RATTLES lol feels like my car is having a continuous orgasm

I would recommend either the Peak Performance Motor Mounts or the AVID Racing Motor Mounts.
Anything Delrin has a great habit of not showing signs of fatigue, just breaking without warning, if/when it happens.

solid motor mounts are super harsh bro, trust. The engine response is amazing, but sitting in traffic is nothing short if not far in the opposite direction of amazing. Also hope you're ready to re-torque and apply lock-tite to all of your small bolts. I'm missing three bell housing bolts due to mine.

can you tell me why?
the car sends too much vibrations thru the small alloy engine and causes damages!! and rattles in the cabin suck sooooooo bad.
and also, whats the point LOL???? many many MANY people are using nismo mounts even with 800HP!!

I have solid aluminum mounts for s13, PM me if want. Used for a while but took off because they weren't good for my DD cause too much vibration.
its that bad? I used to have solid mounts on a FWD (Protege5) and I loved it... are the vibrations really worst on a rwd?

Cusco/Kazama are the only choice in my opinion for solid mounts. I have them and I love them. They make everything vibrate inside the car like a mother but the engine doesnt move at all! You must get a solid tranny mount too!

02-19-2009, 09:45 PM
=[?. oh gawd well im super confuse now.
I want the engine to be stiff but dont want the whole car vibrating. =[.
What if i use combination, as in nismo mounts and solid tranny mounts. Anybody did anything like that before?

i have a question for the kazama mounts users. Did you guys have to make a tranny mount spacer since the kazama mounts bring the motor down a bit? Or you had no trouble with this?

why not get nismo mounts all around?? they'll be stiffer than oem and are not as harsh as solid

just order the nismo engine and transmission mounts from FRSport.com - Aftermarket Performance Parts (http://www.frsport.com)
problem solved
if it's good enough for people drifting in D1, Formula D etc then i think its good enough for you :)

Yeah obviously everything in D1 is much better than anything else (sarcasm) But to the people using kazama mounts, did you guys have to make a tranny spacer to bring it down since the motor mounts bring the engine down?

so it seems that the consensus is that solid mounts make life hell. But if you are set on going with solid mounts, then i see nothing wrong with those delrin ebay mounts
Sure it's ebay...but it doesn't take a team of engineers and hours of R&D to machine a cylinder with a given inner radius
Since everyone says solid sucks for anything besides track use, then i'd go with some nismos. But if it's a track rat then do eeeeeeet
