so i installed my catback system last night. after i did, the check engine light came on, and now the motor sputters at idle. and the higher i rev it, the lower it drops after coming down until it stalls. my friend told me to unplug the battery for a few hours to reset the ecu. does anyone else have any other suggestions?

What kind of car? And you did nothing else to it? There's no possible way for an exhaust to cause an engine to hesitate unless it's clogged up.

91 s13 coupe, kade motor. nothing else done. it was fine last night and started doing it this afternoon. its a 3" catback. im going to check the ecu codes and see what that does. i dont think its clogged, but i could be wrong. is there any easy way to check?

maybe you damaged the o2 sensor in the downpipe?

also if the O2 sensor is the problem, the ecu will give me a corresponding code right?

da tak si yah asso
I think that's like 4 different ways to say yes, with an ass at the end. Or maybe the yah is ya, or you... so it would be 3 ways.
