View Full Version : Running IACV AAC valve with power fc

I am getting ready to do a s13 head to s14 head on a sr20det. One problem that I foresee is the difference between the IACV valves. On the s13 IACV there is only one plug and it is a pigtail. On the s14 IACV there is two female plugs on the actual unit.
So my questions is if I were to run a s14 head on my s13 block and harness, how would I get the IACV to work?
If I am running power fc, does it even use the IACV to control idle. I always thought that the power fc controls idle within the unit. Does it control idle like the stock ecu?
If I left the IACV unplugged, what would happen with my idle if I ran a power fc?

Okay, this might be a little off topic but this is the first time i've seen/heard anyone put a S14 head on a S13 Block. You do know that the oil pumps are different for both S14/S15 and S13? If you don't believe please search it up! unless you put a S14 pump on the S13 block. If i were you i'd keep things simple but kudos if things workout.

well here is something to consider. s13, s14, and s15 head gaskets are all universal. So s13 heads can fit on s14 blocks. S14 heads can fit on s13 blocks. What I am going to do is weld the vtc oil gallery and then deck the head flat. The only things I know I have to change at this point is my intercooler piping, vtc hole, figure out iacv situation, and then change over some of the coolant piping underneath the intake. Everything else should be good.

Are intake manifold interchangeable between S13 and 14/15s? If your using the S14 head, wouldnt that mean you'd have to use the S14 manifold?

He's worried about his iac not working with his s13 harness i think.
You're going to need a s14 ecu/harness, or change plugs and use a rpm window trigger switch to control vtc.

I don't know man... i'm still wondering about the S14/15 vs the S13 oil pumps. I believe but don't quote me on this, there is a reason why the S14/15 oil pumps were designed for the VTC to keep it lubricated (oil passage ways directly pumping to the VTC or something). I could be wrong but take a careful look at the S14/15 oil pump vs the S13, they are slightly diffrent, especially where the head meets. I've only worked on S14 motors, never really gave a shit about the S13 but always willing to learn. Hopefully things work out for you.

I will be using all s14 stuff from the block up. This means head, intake manifold, and all the accessories.
I WILL NOT be using VTC. That is why I am welding up the oil passage in the head for VTC.
Also I am keeping all my s13 wiring and power fc. There is no reason for me to go through all that. I am strictly asking how the power fc interfaces with the IACV. Has anyone ran with the IACV unplugged? I know it would probably cause idle to jump around on a stock ecu but I don't think it would affect it on a power fc setup.
