If everyone could post up their bmc shield set ups that would be great.

Im debating what material to use and which way to bend/form the metal.

I searched and couldnt find a similar thread, so forgive me if there is one alreayd kicking around. Thanks!

Ergh, I think phase2 or megan racing has one for sale.

I actually found an Air Force F18 engine heatshield that works very well. Just don't ask how I got it.....

All those work fine.

Everyone tends to go with megan racing for this part. I'm not a fan of it. I personally like this one that's available from phase2motortrend.com

Xcessive Brake Cylinder Heat Shield (http://www.phase2motortrend.com/xcbrcyhesh.html)

Friend got it for his hatch and it looks and fits great. I'll be copying the design and making one for myself as a friend of mine has the proper equipment to do it.

i use a megan heat shield (chopped to fit) and a turbo one from Phase2
HTM in summer (100+ F) temps drifting..yeah. stuff still melts with just one of those two
ive gone thru 2 BMC in the past. one from heat another one slightly melted. so better to replace it.

I tried finding a picture of the megan one actually in a car to no avail. The square corners might make it look tacky. I was hoping somebody had one of them on their car to see.

Edit: Nevrmind, I get a better idea now thanks Dousan!

you should also get a turbo blanket and wrap you'd dump/downpipe. thats what i have, for piece of mind. and the turbo blankets keep underhood temps way down.

I'm using an "Inferno Heatshield" from Heatshield Products. (you can buy one here (http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=184820)) It's the SS one and rated to 1800* F, which should be good enough for this application (I have not had any issues and have been running this ~1 year)

It comes as a 6"x14" rectangle (universal fit). You bend it/drill holes to install. I didn't trim it at all, just bent it up until it fit. Drilled two holes in it. On the strut tower side it bolts on to one of the threaded holes in the chassis. On the firewall side I just ziptied it to the charcoal canister hard line with a beefy ziptie. Ziptie seems ghetto but it's been this way for almost a year and no probs yet.

Neat-o thing about this is super easy non time consuming install, with minimum fab. Cheap and cost/time effective.
