Need to replace the outer moulding on my rear window

I'll be buying this CourtesyParts :: [79816] MOULDING-REAR WINDOW,UPPER - 240SX (S14) 1995-1998 (http://www.courtesyparts.com/79816-moulding-rear-windowupper-240sx-s14-1995-1998-p-138775.html) But I wanted to know if you needed to use some type of sealant to keep in place or does it stay in place by itself?

If the retainer isn't damaged the moulding snaps right in. I always run a dab of sealant just in case though, age and wear make the retainer brittle in spots.

I'll say this...i ordered this trim piece for my S14 (through my local Nissan shop) about 1 year ago...and the trim does not fit exactly the same. Around the top and sides it's fine, then toward the base of the window glass where the OEM slid into the bottom molding, the trim gets extra thick and won't fit in where the OEM did. I ordered it through my friend so I brought it back up to Nissan and tripple checked the Part Number. It was right. I wish I had just re-sealed my OEM molding now :( .

But yeah...there is a small sticky lining on the molding, but i'd def recomend running a bead of sealant around the window 1st.

The OE piece is double molded, sounds like yours wasn't OE. Weird.

Yeah i kept saying that...but it did come in OE Plastic and everything...I just couldn't make two cents of it... lame.

OP let me know how the molding from courtesy parts works out. I'll just scrap my piece if this one is better fitment.

OP, get the OE moulding, if it doesn't seem to snap tight, run some sealant on it too.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it goes. The moulding started coming apart in the lower right corner where its suppose to slide into place. If that makes sense..I think you know what I mean.

Yup when it starts to slide out you gotta stop it fast. I glued mine, but then the corners were popping up , then the sides...etc... But PLEASE let me know if that part new is the correct molding so I can order it too. Thanks!
