in my opinion, i think discounttire and tirerack are pretty expensive, city tire online for me. got my maxxis' there. great service too. i can't believe nobody said them yet...lol i think they got the cheapest tires, plus they carry feddys too. just that shipping is what kills it.

So, I never need to use Vulcan. Haha.

I have used pep boys for my volvo...tough to beat $35 per tire :) But for the S14 I jump back and forth between tirerack.com and discount tire direct. Some times my buddy that works in parts at Nissan can get me a decent deal or let me know when some used good condition come off a car in the shop :) (nothing wrong with a 5 finger discount behind the shop late night :) )

I hunt for tires at ebay and at some online auction sites. Second hand slightly used ones are a good finds as well. Just be sure you know how to check for good tires.

Depends on the tire...I've ordered a set of Azenis RT615s from CityTires. I was planning on getting a set of Dunlop Star Specs from them since they're the cheapest ive found for 235/40-18s. Then I went to Tire Rack, they only quoted me $35 for shipping 2 tires. In the long run, I save close to $50 thru Tire Rack due to shipping.

if you live near a discount tire, go in with a quote that you got online, they'll usually match it after shipping as long as they verify it. thats what we do. it's a nice way to save some extra money and get a deal

Off other peoples cars :)

No, seriously.

I've always used tirerack.com and I've found them the cheapest place online. Their selection is pretty rigid though, but they do offer some conveniences. Their test and reviews make the site awsome (but not the cheapest)

I did look at citytire online. They offer a greater selection of tires you want and the prices are pretty damn good too. So I'm going to say those two.

If you just want some crappys to have some fun on I'd buy used.

I suggest CITY TIRE.

They aren't a huge company, but they are part of our community.
They even make the trek to the t rack and bring tires for anybody who ordered them.

Who else does that????

Fuck that tires-easy, I got quoted $121 for shipping alone for a PAIR of tires...

I looked up the same tires I got from Tire Rack, and they only charged me $35 for the pair to ship.

just give them a acll

If that's the case then it'd be wise of them to update all pricing on the site. Would keep people from just calling the shop asking for pricing as that could take up valuable time.

Hell, I'd do it for a discount :D

tires-easy.com is by far the cheapest and best experience ive had...

i bought FOUR 235/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's for 52.40 a piece... got quoted for shipping and it was 38 bucks for all FOUR tires.

take note that Eagle F1's usually cost about 255 bucks a piece in that size from other places... i got 4 for less than the price of one..

Tires Easy for sure.

One time, i went through some other shop to get some tires a couple dollars cheaper. They referred me to a discount tire shop that they had an account with and told me to mention the shop name to receive a special price on mounting. I went there and mentioned the shop name and the guy said that the fee had gone up. I went and called the other shop back and forth and ended up paying more than what was advertised.

Moral of the story: GO TO CITY TIRE! One stop shop for wheels/tires/mounting/balancing/ceviche!!!

discounttire.com has always been good to me. I've already ordered 3 or 4 sets of tires from them. Its gets pretty cheap because they price match and they have free shipping. I don't think I know of any other place that does both.

Obviously the downside is that if discount tire doesn't have a physical shop near you, it can be a little trouble if you have a blowout or flat and have to wait a couple days for a replacement.

I have the lifetime replacement on all the tires I bought from them. Last time when I needed it, I got the replacement in two or three days. The customer reps on the phone are extremely nice and will work with you. When I first bought tires from them I was on the edge about buying the lifetime replacement. The guy told be that if I buy it on one tire, he will throw it in for free on the 2nd one.

Is discounttire.com the cheapest online to get tires?

Yes, is the answer to your question. They will even go lower if you provide a lower advertised price. Hands down they are the ones other companies chase.

The way they have grown and got so large is because of pricing and they do not depend on single profit margins, but overall for the year. They get a super kick back from manufactures based on the units they sell for the year. So it is very hard for companies to keep up with pricing.

Now, should one buy from them? That is completely up the individual.

I myself work at a tire shop, so I am blessed in a way.

But here is what matters to all of us. There is local tire shops like CTO that help out Zilvians with special pricing and Track support. This may not be a big deal to lots of people that do not track and buy one set every two years.

For us it matters a lot, we depend on these special deals and support, as we buy more tires and can use the extra help given to us. So your support extends to all of us, ozone layer killers.

So I would appreciate if you at least considered to make your next purchase from your local shop heroes, and if you do not like the service or prices? Then you can kick me in the balls.

Plus, John is Gay and he will LOVE to lube your rubbers before he ships them out.

I just ordered from tires-easy.com

$327 shipped for 4 Kumho AST's 225/40/18

I also work with Ernie at DISCOUNT TIRE CENTERS, and here is a little food for thought. We have a Socal-Drift account created specifically for drivers.

your 225/40/18 ast here would cost you about $75 per tire. no shipping, just $8 dollars for installation. Includes balancing. Now we aren't the cheapest with feddy's, but there are a lot of tire manufacturers that we deal directly with, and get special pricing. Hit up DTCPERFORMANCE or FCKILLERBEE for a quote, and we'll do our best to hook you up.

And support CITYTIREONLINE!!!!! They support us DTC as well! ;D We love you JOHN!

I live in a suburb of Vancouver.. rains a lot and snows for a couple weeks during winter. I don't race at all, should I just grab some all seasons and call it a day? any suggestions?

If anyone lives in my area a good store would help, I bought my last tires and Volco but they were nothing special.
