Im having trouble looking for the right thread for this, i've searched everywhere but i haven't been lucky to find what i have been looking for.
My problem:
The car wont start or crank if i turn the key through the ignition cylinder but if turn the ignition switch with a flat head, it would start right up
I dont know if its my ignition cylinder that has a problem but i have read that those things wear-out. But my biggest concern is "HOW TO" take them off the steering column. they seems to be riveted on there.
If anyone has any helpful links that be greatly appreciated.
I hope your able to read this now professor douchebag(projectRDM (http://zilvia.net/f/members/projectrdm.html)).
Now if you have any help or hints to give me, it would also be greatly appreciated.
Way to set an example though fuck face! thank you!

there are two bolts on the bottom. usually they're loose enough that you can unscrew them by hand. if that's not the case with you then i guess you always makes a slit with a dremel on the head of each bolt and use a flathead to unscrew them. be sure to unplug everything.

Can't read Ebonics, no.
ribbitted?
baq?
srewdriver?
fawkin?
None of these are words. Not to mention every other word is misspelled and nothing is capitalized. It's common sense, if you ask a question but appear to be a fucking moron, why would anyone bother to help you? Clearly you wouldn't be educated enough to understand the answer you'd be given if someone did help, therefore anyone attempting to answer your question is making a pointless effort.

no now im just trying to clarify if that is the problem, because it would act up sometimes, so i dont know if it's just bad wiring or not. I dont want to end up spending 140 for the ign. cylinder and thats not being the problem.

just get a used ignition cylinder from the junkyard. you could pretty much pocket the item. I don't think any of the plugs that go to the ignition cylinder have any affect on being able to turn the car on and if you're able to start it from the ignition switch, but not the cylinder then I'd figure it'd be the cylinder. Hell, I actually have an extra one. I'll sell it to you for $35 shipped with a matching key.
If you go the junkyard route you'd pay $2 entry fee and could easily pocket the item. If you decide to pay I believe it's a $15 part. If it doesn't come with a key go to a lock smith and have him make you one. That should be around $25-$30.

Glad I could help.
The ignition switch and cylinder are two different pieces. You have verified that the switch works fine out of the cylinder, but does the switch have any noticeable wear on it? Alternatively, does the cylinder show wear that matches to the switch? The pin that engages the switch from the cylinder is smaller than a regular flat blade screwdriver so although you can activate the switch outside of the cylinder, that doesn't mean the cylinder is able to. Use a smaller screwdriver, similar to the size of the cylinder pin or less and recheck the switch. If it indeed still works fine, the cylinder is the problem. You can turn through the cylinder with the switch out to verify it does fully turn, if it doesn't or seems to catch then it is removed by either drilling or slotting the two bolts that secure it to the column, they're antitheft type and sheer off when tightened. Replace either item found to be defective as required.

k thank you sir. but yeah i kinda figure it really is the ign. cylinder now. I was just staring at it right now and the key has a play inside the cylinder. You can move it up and down and such a lot. so i guess i am going to have to spend 140. fuck it. thanks for the help fellas.
thread close please.

they are $112 at rock auto less 5% equals $106. google rock auto coupon they have the 5 % coupon available continuously. you will get a ignition switch with it which you sell for maybe 20 bucks.
rock auto has the lock cylinder listed in wrong category. look under Electrical-Switch & Relay : Ignition Starter Switch

i dont know if this is suppose to be like a sarcastic comment but yeah.
might as well, i mean i dont want to be in the same situation after how many months and miles you know.
my car has been sitting for 4-5 months. i re-wire all the engine bay wiring, got the starter re-build, bought a new dizzy cap and rotor and i was about to take apart my fuel-pump to test it,i thought that might have been the problem but i guess not. so yea might as well buy the ignition cylinder.

I'd buy new as well. Most used cylinders won't be in any better shape and for the money you'd hate to be back doing this again in a few months.
