Notch top sr20, stock turbo, internals etc... I ran a compression test and the results were 130 +/- 3 across. The car runs a little bit rich and ive noticed it burns coolant when I push it hard. The turbo is holding boost so I think that its alright for now. But the big issue is a grinding sound that happens at 5000rpm and up at full throttle. It doesnt happen in idle, only in gear past 5000rpm at full throttle.

I've posted on other forums and got answers like rod knock, spun bearing, head gasket, timing guides etc...

Any ideas?

we need a video. Its hard to say what a "grinding" noise is past 5K. but being its RPM related I wouldnt assume its engine related. more like drive line, IE: a wheel bearing, tranny main bearing, something in the diff.

I would first try and pinpoint the noise (front middle left or right and vise versa)

Also do you hear the drinding noise if the car is jacked up and you run it 5K at no load?

i havent jacked it up and ran it no load but the noise is a constant grind, its not deep like rod knock or anything like that, its definitly a gear grinding sound and it comes loud from the drivers side, hard to pinpoint more precisely bc i can only make here it when im driving the car. Which is why im leaning toward drive line issue at this point....

on another note though, what bout that low compression..?
