i recently installed coilovers on my car and my drop caused my tire to rub against my fender liner so i decided to take it off. i was wondering if this will affect my car negatively in any way (mainly in the rain) cause i see some wires and stuff along the fender. thanks

Aerodynamics is a little cleaner with them on, otherwise it's fine as long as you move the harness out of the wheel well(either in the fender or the engine bay).

so if I were to get overfenders, Aerodynamically speaking would it be worth the effort to try and retain the factory wheel wells?

What about if they were the vented kind like origin

gut the liners. You dont need them at all. Just be sure to tuck your harness to avoid rubbing through the wires.

You can make stuff that's "better" than the factory wheel well liners. Mainly make a splitter that goes back to the front wheels and kicks the flow out in front of the front wheels.

It'd be a really ghetto job trying to make stock liners work with overfenders, plus you want to utilize the vent in the overfenders to evacuate the high pressure area in the back of the wells.

you should never be high enough to be able to retain them.

thing that bugs me about no fender liners is I end up with a little rock and dirt collection between my fender and door.. gota love that

on the passanger side, when you remove your fender liner, you expose your windshield washer fluid resovoir. now some ppl just say fuck it and don't give a shit, but if you are slammed...you know that ANYTHING lying on the road that you may run over may be picked up from the underbody of your car.

I cut up the fender liner from the passanger side and basically made a small shield to protect the bottom of the res as well as the plugs in the back. (you dont wanna pull those plugs out...) I wish i took pics...

Works fine, because I pushed the fender liner deeeeeeeeeeeeep into the wheel well (after pounding in the wheel well in with a sledgehammer), so it would hit my inner wheel well before it would touch my fender liner.

Haha, yes.

Mine rubbed the worst when I had just lowering springs (Sportlines + body roll), and they rubbed through and killed my wiring.

Took them off over 2 years ago. The dirt and rocks wasn't as much of an issue with me because I constantly wash my car anyways. The thing that bugged me was the way it made the car look. The liners do give your car a much more cleaner look. As for the harness, I just placed some plastic pieces under the harness. Then taped a bunch of electrical tape over it. It was suppose to be temporary, but it's been holding up for 2 years, so I never bothered to reroute it.

I absolutely hate how the car looks without them, just my 2cents. I cut mine so that the lower portions remain, covering the fender opening and filling the section from the bumper back. You can then make a small bracket to hold them securely.

I did the same thing too. Basically just cut the liner in half and install the back half of it. I used to live in a place where there was a lot of sand and grainy rocks so it sucks without some kind of liner.

I keep them, but I'm not lowered as far as many folks, and my car is mostly street-driven. I figure it keeps rocks and dirt out from places you don't want it, and helps to keep things dry that should be kept dry.

Yeah the only downside is the rocks getting in the door/fender area. Sorta funny when you wash the car just a pile of rocks and dirt come out from them. But no bad effects.

How can you guys even tell that they're not in?

Get bigger wheels. :)

took them both out, one was already ground up anyway. after that i put on underbody coating on everything in the wheel wells, because i didn't want to have little rocks chipping my paint away in there. plus, the black coating makes it look more "stockish".

cut the top part off and keep the parts that are in front of the sideskirt area and front bumper.

Definitely, Trim them. The back portion near the door is nice so you dont get rocks and mud in your jams. I hate when i close the door on rocks, recks my paint and shit.

You're the one controlling how smooth the cut is.

Measure and draw where you want them to be, cut them, sand them smooth.
