I need help on tire size and wheel combo. Can I fit a
245/45/zr17 on a 17x8 wheel with +35 offset? What's the maximum tire size (wideness) I could put on
without having the wheel looking small? ANother thing,
Will the wheel clear the 300zx non turbo aluminum calipers? Thank you very much. This forum and the people in here really helps a lot. Thanks everyone!

For 8" rims, I wouldn't go any wider than 235. The 245 will work, but you may get bad handling characteristics from excessive sidewall flex. The 245/45's are way too tall anyway...get a 35 for a little better gearing or 40 for about normal height. But I would stick with a 235/40/17 on the 8" rim. If you want to go 245, I'd suggest upping rim width to 8.5". Not an expert on offset, but the +35 sounds about right. And I'm pretty sure 17's will clear the calipers since the Z car came with 16's stock.
Numbers, Numbers everywhere <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Ok I got the 8" wide part. What does all that other stuff mean? like offset and the other dimentions. Thanks

Yeah, I agree with Lance, check out toyo tires website www.toyo.com they have a chart on what size tires fit what size (width) rim. But 235/40/17 sounds right. And DSC, check out www.tirerack.com they'll answer your questions about offset and such. Take it easy guys
235/40/17
235 = width of the tire in centimeters
40 = length of the sidewall, percent of the width, so 40% of 235 cm
17 = 17" wheel
I think that's what those numbers are. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> Correct if I'm wrong please.

almost danio...
235= width of tire in millimeters
235cm is over 7 ft....now that's a contact patch...:biggrin:
I personally prefer to run 235/45-17 on my 17x8. 235/40-17 is closer to stock diameter on the S14, but since the speedometer reads off the tranny.

I know the topic is nitrousgq's rim size, but I'm running 16" by 7" rims. I'm on fat ass 55 series rubber. I want the best performance out of my next tire. So should I go for 205/45R16's or 205/50R16's Z rated (both).

konkman, the 45 series will be too small, causing more wheel gap and inaccurate speedo readings....go with the 205/50
