I'm not trying to be a smartass, but short of temporarily putting the KA back in, I cant think of anything. Of course, I'm not from cali, so I don't know exactly.
Bring an extra fifty bucks and try to slip it to whoever is doing the check (i'm only half serious- half because I've heard of people who that has worked for )
Good luck...

premium fuel, +octane boost, all tune up components are excellent OR new, properly tuned, and run the car a little hard on the way to the emission station, try NOT to turn it off....hopefully u get tested right away (car needs to b normal to hot)
do u have a cat...?? if not u may need to put one on. try Magnaflow stainless steel hi-flow 3in pipe part# 94309. good luck!

Also try running the engine as lean as possible, after you get it tested and if you fail, post what part of the test failed so that we can have a general idea on what part to zero in on.

haha
thats funny,
CT has no inspection, well atleast they cancelled it for the last year, they're reinstating it, because everyone brought out they're POS cars... with fenders and hoods and such things flying off the cars...lol, but we still have emmisions :o

again id focus on proper tuning. u can screw with all the other crap and still get nowhere. maybe spend a few $ to have a good repair shop stick the scope/sniffer up ur pipe (exhaust, sorry that sounds funny!) and give u a reading on the CO2 output....a GOOD tech can help suggest what to adjust to set as u need.
question....have u failed the test or worried u wont pass, cuz u may b surprised...it may pass.

Maine doesn't have emissions, and you can pay the inspection guys off with a corn dog....

try again, in the course of 2 months... then if you fail again, you have to pay another 40$

ahhh yes.....its all in the need for speed! if u wanna play ya gotta pay!
tune n try, tune n try, tune n try............u will eventually get it if u think it all thru and take proper steps in tuning.
r there any "loopholes" to get thru if u continue to fail???
