When maf is out no good???Will the car not start?

if the maf is bad it may cause weird operation or not run at all. if the maf is unplugged the car wont idle. if you give it gas it might run but as soon as you let off the throttle it will die. im sure if you look in the FSM you can find a procedure how to test the circuitry with a DMM to make sure its good and didnt fry itself.
