I tried searching for this, but I couldn't get a clear explanation.

I bought one of those cheap Euro antennas to replace the stupid long non-retractable wand on my car; now if only I could figure out how to get the stock one off. Is there a special tool I need? If there is, is there a way to take it off without one?

The SE has a power antenna......so removing it will be alittle different.

Mine sure as hell didn't have a power antenna. My friend's '95 SE does, but it has leather and abs/vlsd, ect. My '96 SE w/o leather abs/vlsd crap doesn't have a power antenna.

Either way, the power antenna will be removed the same way, possibly with an extra bolt or screw at the base for support.

I got the same crappy SE! I'm trying to figure out what's so SE about it (besides the alloys).

Upgraded suspension, power everything, 16" rims, and 5 lug hubs. That's about it. Oh.. a different front end and spoiler.
Other than that, every thing else was optional. I just don't know which option was for the power antenna.

Mine is a 95 base and it HAD a power antenna... When I got my new deck 3 weeks after the car, I all but quit listening to the radio, since stations here suck balls. I didn't get the antenna adapter at the time and my antenna never went up anymore, not even when I actually GOT an antenna adapter... Now I just had the black thingy with the silver tip of the antenna at the top.

sounds like you wired the radio remote signal wire incorrectly...

Yea. It just wasn't a trim level. It was an SE only option. The '97-'98 LE are the leather trim levels. I just call them Special Edition and Leather Edition, cuz that's about the only worthwhile change in trim levels.
