I am going to picking a set of coilovers here pretty soon and I'm stuck between two of them.

First one is JIC FLT A2

or

Zeal B6 Functoin

The Zeal is about 400 dollors more. I'm sure either one I go with I'll still by happy with them but I have a few questions about them.

1. How is the ride quality of them on the street. I hear its going to be very rough but that's not a very big concern of mine.

2. What Spring rate would you recomend. I plan to do some track racing from time to time. Have not really done much yet cause I don't feel my suspension currently is up to par.

3. Can you use stock control arms etc w/ them without fear of them breaking due to the stiffness of the setup?

Thanks

I am upgrading from Koni Yellow Adjustibles/Eibach Sportlines.

What's this about the suspension not being up to par?

Thanks again sykikchimp and 03specvchik for the pic... That's STOCK, as in the original springs, original struts, original bushings, everything, all with 140,000 miles on them. There's no need to have the hottest setup for track days. You'll find that your car's abilities will reach far beyond your own skills.

That said, considering the price difference I think the FLT-A2 is a better deal. I don't see what about the Function B6 is specifically worth the added investment, especially for a car that's not being used for competition.

Spring rate is just a question of what your butt can handle. I'm personally looking into springs that most would consider VERY soft, but I just don't have the desire for a "no compromises" car on the street.

For the Zeal I would probably choose the standard 6kg/mm front and 5kg/mm rear spring rate, which is good for any situation.

I'm sure my car can already handle more then my driving skills can dish out but since My rear Konis are blown out I felt why not just fix my suspension and do it right. The original plan was to get damper system in the first place. Just kinda fell through with the Eibach/Koni combo cause I only planed to roll on the Eibachs for temp untill I had enough for coilovers. The Expensive konis came in to play because my stock shocks blew out.

I also forgot to ask:

Will I have any coilover over clearance problems? My current wheels are tires set is as follows:

Front: 17x8 w/ 235/45/17 w/ +35 offset and a 5mm Spacer

Rear: 17x9 w/ 255/40/17 w/ + 35 offset no spacer

Wheels right now seem to have a -1 1/2 degree camber to -2 just by eyeballing it. I could be way off but I'm sure this would change again w/ the new setup.

I think your koni/sportlines are sufficient to begin with.. you aren't a hardcore track racer, nor do you need all that.. And your azz needs an alarm before anything else.

I would like the Zeal Function S6. I would take zeal of JIC any day.. You get what you par fot. but that my personal preference. As far as i remember T.Y. Yap's regamasters were +35 offset in the front and I dont think he had to use spacers.

I would have the Koni's rebuilt and revalved. Maybe shortened an inch or so while you are at it. Switch to coilover sleeves and you have a killer setup.

I want to eventually go to a Truechoice Koni setup or a maybe try the GC Advanced Design coilovers. But not for a while.

I really hate the fact I have to lose Compression travel when I lower the car. That's one thing i really like about the JICs.
