need ideas on how to run my rear cusco in my s14. id like to see how you guys cut the metal cover thing in the back

There's only one way to install it, what idea did you need? And you do NOT cut any metal at all, period. There's no modifications required to install it. Bolt in and tighten.

No. Total fail. I have a Cusco OS. It fits fine, you just gotta flip the rear seat down and have a look. Its tough getting it in there at first, but that's it.

wtf are u guys like retarted or something. there's two types of rearstrut bars for S14s. one that goes through the pass through behind the seat and another that goes up and over the rear deck... explain to me WHAT do you have to cut??? sounds to me like you guys tried to install the underpass cusco strut bar upside down....

Absolute fail. I've had a Cusco rear bar since 1998. There's two slots on the shock tower, towards the front of the tower. The endplates slide right through them. You do have to twist it in place, they don't just fall in, but if you start with it pointing down and turn it as it drops it goes in fine. It helps to have the shock out so you can clear the top studs coming through, but it's not required.
The Nismo bar goes above the deck, and obviously you have to cut the rear deck cover to fit it. I have both bars on my car.

Id suggest ditching the Rear STB anyway and getting a set of solid subframe bushings instead.

Why? the STB does it's job well for the chassis. The subframe is a completely independent part, benefiting from it's own upgrades.

id like to see how you trimmed the cover on the upper part for the s14. i have the carbing rear bar for above and have just ditched the speaker cover because it wouldn't fit below

Mine was reversed. You had to cut the wall of the shock tower to mount it this way.

i would never EVER cut the wall of the shock tower just to mount a bar...

The Nismo bar comes with plates to cover the holes once cut, they're square with slots for the endplates to come through and then screw to the deck with small screws. You could easily duplicate them with a piece of sheetmetal or even ABS plastic.

All Cuscos do, as well as 99% of the knockoffs found online. The Nismo, Avanche, and Carbing go over the deck.

The JIC MAGIC rear strut bar goes over as well, which is what I have. I don't see what is so difficult about installing a strut bar.

I installed a Tanabe rear strut bar that goes over a while ago. I cut the speaker cover because I still wanted to keep it in there. Here are some quick pics of how I have mine.
I guess there are 2 types of speaker covers, one with the BIG metal speaker covers, and the one with the small metal speaker covers, I had the BIG one.
I ended up measuring and cutting holes in the metal covers with a dremel, then bought some leather from a crafts store and cut then hot glued it to the cover. I like the outcome, even though I am not fond of the red strut bar.

Another option would be to weld the two strut towers straight to each other.

Zenki base models and all Kouki models have the small, round plastic grilles, Zenki SEs got the larger metal grilles. I took my speakers out of the rear deck, moved them to the quarter panels, and bought a base deck cover without speaker holes for a cleaner look. I then wrapped it in black vinyl, looks better and easier to clean that that carpet they use.
You can always powdercoat the bar another color. Red would bother me too.

FYI, I think this isn't posted in many places but the Greddy bar goes under the deck like the Cusco ones. Greddy 14023010 GREX Triple Tube Rear Strut Tower Bar S14 (http://www.frsport.com/Greddy-14023010-GREX-Triple-Tube-Rear-Strut-Tower-Bar-S14_p_1551.html)

I have the Greddy bar and it goes under the rear deck which I like. The above the deck ones do not look that great IMHO. Of note, I did not feel a huge difference with the rear bar, make sure that you get the rear subframe spacers too, I felt more difference with those.

Is anyone using Tein's strut bars on the s14???
I was thinking of using a DC sports front on my car, and tein rear. I like the RC sport because it is solid weld. Goot knock off of the ARC. Holla!

I use the Tein Front and Rear on my s13 and they are fantastic. Quality is good.
I'm not really sure if this is a quality question or a specific s14 bar question though.

i got a cusco that goes under the speakers. it's not a hard install, just kinda cumbersome b/c of the cramped spaces. also nothing has to be cut if you install the strutbar that goes under the speakers, mine came in 5 pieces, 2plates, 2 more plates and a bar. you just need to install each one at a time can;t just toss it all in at once like a front strut bar. honestly, i don't really notice anything different lol... i just like the look of it. then again i don't drive my car like i stole it. i don't have a rear sway bar, but i do notice that when i turn harder the car goes back to a level position faster. but, i have coilovers now as well, so i can't say if it's b/c of the coils or a combo of coil n strut bar.
