So we had an event coming up and decided to get a car together for it. When we started the build we had 5 days until a practice day at buttonwillow to dial in the car for the december event up at thunder hill.

I purchased the car from my friend Jason. It was a nicely put together ls1 s14 street car. I purchased it from him disassembled, and needing a bunch of new parts.

Here is the car with the engine mocked up.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09005.jpg

Full plush interior.

Here I am building the engine really quickly.
A different set of heads, MLS gaskets, Arp yada yada, comp pushrods, Patriot titanium retainers, Patriot valve springs, keepers, locators, ls6 oil pump, c5r timing chain, etc.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09012.jpg

Started to strip the interior.

Dry Icing the sound deadening.

After it freezes just hit it with a hammer.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09020.jpg
These are the complete under rear seat sound deadening pieces. They came out just like they went in.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09021.jpg

Then since we are running side mount seats we decided to get rid of the cat hump in the floor.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09060.jpg

Then we started on the cage.

Bending the main hoop.

Engine back in.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09010.jpg

Installed the all important Accusump oil system.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/10-20-09077.jpg

Then. We got really busy and Finished up the cage, Painted everything, installed the dash, re wired the chassis harness. BTW everything works. Heater, blower, Pwr windows, stereo, speedo, tach, temp, gas, alarm, wipers.

Installed the sparco stuff. Thanks sparco...

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/01-21-09067.jpg

Then we finished off the suspension with some "interesting" parts.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/01-21-09070.jpg

So we reached our goal and took the newly built ls14 down to buttonwillow to dial her in.

After a little wiring issue in the morning the car worked great.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/pic4.jpg

After we got everything dialed in I took the car upto Lab17 Laboratory17 - Graphics and Screen Printing (http://www.Laboratory17.com) for some custom vinyl. Andrew hooked it up big time! Then tool some great pics of the car. YESSSS the car needs a kit. That and better wheels. Those will be coming soon...

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/nomnom1.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/nomnom4.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g204/turboskeet/nomnom2.jpg

Then we took the car upto the thunderdrift.com full track competition and qualified 1st for the top 3. I ended up finishing 3rd with a broken toe arm. Not bad considering it was raining during the comp.

http://www.laboratory17.com/hellafuckingewwiwopdude.jpg

Goes to show once you have done something a few times you can be fast and meticulous.

And yess. Aero and better wheels on the way.

Hope you have enjoyed this quick buildup.
Luke

Car looks great. What cam you got in it?

blu808
01-24-2009, 02:25 AM
Well i bought a Comp cam off of craigslist because it was local and didn't have time to order one from Comp. The dude ended up sending me a stock cam. :-(

So I took a cam out of another engine we had laying around. I will have to find the grind card, but it is like a 232/238/ 5xx lift with a 114 LSA. Runs pretty well. And it is a turbo friendly cam which is where the car is headed.

We already have the turbo system done. I just need to get around to putting it on.

Thanks.

Thanks. That is actually the rear section of a hks hi power. It will be for sale soon as I am making my signature ground max system for the turbo setup.

SicBastard: I have no way of watching what the accusump does. But the oil pressure light has never came on. We run these in all our cars, and for $400 it is cheap insurance.

Videos coming soon.

Thanks everyone.

Pm me if you have pricing questions since this is a build thread.

SicBastard
01-24-2009, 02:49 PM
I thought you might be able to hear it, guess not? After seeing way too many blue main bearings in other builds, and you not having any pressure drops enough to trigger the light, cheap insurance sounds about right. I hope you cover your new exhaust build in this thread!?

this peaks my interest, any possible way to do a C.A.R.B. legal LSx swap?

btw forget the kit and wheels, get rid of that nasty body roll.

blu808
01-30-2009, 08:46 PM
Haha. The body roll is because the car was setup for the wet with 5kg/6kg springs.

thanks sac.

Yes we are able to make any lsx 240sx legal.

You know what was really an inspiration? Was seeing Calvin go out there and link the whole course. I have linked all the corners at different times, but have never had enough tire to do it all at once. It was like magic. I wish I was even close to that guys level. It was cool being able to even drift with him. Unfortunately, when him and I went out I put on a 3 year old set of tires, and hella messed up. haha. he must thing I suck.lol

HELLA messed up, huh? Lol ~

It looks like a crazy course to try and link - elevation changes, and very fast corners. I'm surprised you didn't chunk more tire than you did with the length of those drifts.

"Every point except the rear struts is Double boxed, plated, and welded."

Luke, what's the benefit of boxes vs. a single 1/8" plate?
I know you asked luke this question, but maybe this will draw more of his attention.. ;)

I would think it makes the cage more structurally sound. In severe crashes where the single 1/8" plate would normally protrude the chassis comprimising driver safty. The double boxed plated mounting points are a strong deterant to this.. I would say its one of those little peace of mind things when building a cage.
But, im not as experienced as luke, so... i will await his answer as well..

Here is a video of the car with the new engine. Running only 10psi for break in. It is making 520 wtq at 4000 rpm then just starts spinning the tires. Even with 2 people in the trunk. We will be using a dynapak dyno when we tune it for 16 psi next time.
