I buy the 5qt jugs of oil instead of individual qts. Needless to say I have oil left over most of the time, and I just keep it sitting around. Would it be okay to combine em if I have enough for a oil change? I used some now and then cause I had a leaking front seal and valve cover gasket, just to keep from getting low...but never thought about just using the rest for an oil change.

Thanks...btw some have been open and sitting for months

as long as water didn't get inside magically, you should be alright

I see no problem with this.

Unless:
You are mixing brands/type/wieghts..

Or

The jug was left open and could have got stuff in it.

No you cant use it, once the oxgen makes contact with it the oil gets stale and wont lubricate properly...

But seriously as long as its clean its fine, dont mix oils with others stick to one brand, weight and such...

Nah questions seems silly, but I once heard someone say something about some fluid for your car not suppose to use if you take the top off alot...is it brake fluid? I was thinking oil woud be okay cause i no people keep a qt on hand say if there car burns oil.

it brake fluid. brake fluid works best when it has no moisture in it. if it sits un-sealed for a period of time moisture will get in and will cause problem when youre braking. brake fluid is a lot "stiffer" then water, which is what moisture is. this can cause weird brake feel. this problem will be escalated if you are at the track as well.
