Nope, IIRC, only S13 DOHC hatchbacks came with HICAS (High Capacity Actively-Controlled Steering), and they say &quot;Super HICAS&quot; on the rear quarter panels in front of the rear wheels where the black strip runs along the body, there's also a red light that says SuperHICAS on it right beside the rear-wiper buttons.

Some people like HICAS, some don't.

If could be swap into the S14 with enough $$$$$$$, I don't think it would be worth the time, trouble, or money.
The reason for that is because the streering angel of the wheel will only turn it one degree......I don't think its worth it at all.

Yes, but the rear wheels only turn one degree in either way..........not much of a difference.
Also, the Z32 has it.

my friend has hicas on his TT. out of the couple years he's owned it, i can only remember it kicking in several times. i wouldn't say it's the greatest thing, but it's kinda cool when it kicks in, like it has a mind of it's own like it puts the rear end back on track. hmm now that i think about it, it saved our lives one time while flying through backroads hehe.

How HICAS works is that it doesn't just cut the rear wheels with the turn.

The rear wheels start of the turn by angling the opposite direction of the turn. &nbsp;This help bring your rear end around. &nbsp;Then the rear wheels turn the direction of the front wheels. &nbsp;

This system is great, but with higher horsepower it can cause the rear end to loose stability through fast corners. &nbsp;This is why many 300 owners have an eliminator kit installed to replace the hicas.

HICAS was only available on the '91-'93 fastback SE. It was an option bundled with the VLSD, and you could only get it with ABS.

I'll see if I can get my bud that had a '92 with Super Hicas to reply to this thread. &nbsp;He did some research on the system and found out how it all worked. &nbsp;We looked into getting it for my '96, but the trouble wouldn't be worth it. &nbsp;Just getting it for the S14 would be a PITA, but S14 Silvia's have the system of course. &nbsp;I must say though, his stock '92 LE with Hicas handled much better than his stock '97 LE he has now.

That would be me... I have to say I SERIOUSLY miss having HICAS. . would be 100% worth it to install on my S14... &nbsp;I miss the .95 Gs I could pull on H rated all season tires... can't even come close now... My S14 handles alright, still better than a Cowmaro or Rustang, but the HICAS was world class... &nbsp;At slower speeds, it would turn in the opp. direction of the turn, at higher speeds, it would (as stated previously) &quot;twitch&quot; in the opposite direction, then turn the same direction as the front... but only by one or two degrees (I never could SEE it turn)... It worked with an &quot;electro-hydraulic&quot; system... that is, was controlled electrically and was ran with the power steering fluid. &nbsp;
Don Nimi, with a STOCK 92 Canadian LE hatchback, like mine with HICAS... and ONLY with R compound tires, ran a 1.22 G, and 1.14 G continuous. . AWESOME SYSTEM..

Ohh... And.... Not only the hatch was available with it... &nbsp;You could get it on the coupe too (In Canada)... My car was Canadian anyway, so I had an equal chance of getting a coupe with one... &nbsp;

Wouldn't mind a coupe with HICAS and SR swap, along with front end conversion... can we say LHD JDM Silvia?

ive said this before and ill say it again, my friend eric, his cousin came down here last year with a AWS prelude, that was slammed... &nbsp;i have sturt bars... thats it.. &nbsp; he couldn't shake me at all i stuck to his bumper like glue... &nbsp;

and most people argue that front wheel drive is better for handling... and he had FWD, and AWS... &nbsp;and slammed... &nbsp; but it was a honda and i drive a 97 240sx so... heh

my friend also says its better, then he realized he couldnt coutersteer out of a slide, and smashed his rim, and his controller arm was all tweaked out... lol
while i was behind him in my D21 HB and flew right by him, lucky prick, i almost railed him... lol,
but i countered it right away from the curb
so yea i think RWD is ALOT better

FWD is easier to handle for the everyday driver. No need to worry about controlling your ass in rain or snow. Less troublesome you could say, as well as less drivetrain power loss. That is why most cars come front wheel drive.

FWD is more predictable to drive for the average person (and cheaper to manufacture)...it's a point and shoot thing. &nbsp;However, under most circumstances with experienced drivers and similar hp outputs, a RWD will outperform a FWD...mainly because of weight transfer, weight distribution, and throttle steer issues.
