I'm on the search for some rims and I was looking into Tenzo, G-Racing, Racing Hart, Katana, Advan and Volk.

I'm looking for something along those lines for my S14 (It's a 5-lug). What should I get and what are your recommendations? Weight, size and endurance I need, because I don't want to spend money on new rims every summer.

I know a bit about offsets, and that's to keep it low. So what should I get, I sorta want like a 8 or 10 spoke rim, something like the Volk company makes. What's that...a GT-8 or something? Hmm I don't know, but just tell what you'd do.

All comments welcome. Thanks

If you have pics of rims on your car that would be much appriciated.

That's what I was thinking....
Go with Volk or Advan if you have the money.

17x9 +20 or so in Volk GT-N, GT-C face 2, GTA, TE37, CE28N.
17x9, lowest offset possible (or +35 and a 15mm spacer, since +35 is a popular Advan offset) of the AVS Model 5, 6 or 7, Kruezer Series V, or X, OR 17x9.5 +22 Advan Racing RG (GTR sizing). Those are the wheels I reccomend. Or get Nismo. ($$$). or try some OEM Skyline rims. R32: 16x8 +30, R33 17x9 +30, R34 18x9 +30....

Or get some longchamps, or wats or SSR's in 15x9's!!! or 15x10's!!

Tenzo and all that copying bull**** sucks baboon testes. Dont make your car look like that! Goo! I say if you can't afford good rims, don't get any!

What's the difference between the Face 1 and Face 2 GT-C's?

So tenzo's aren't very good? I thought they were!?!?! They are definetly not cheap, but Volk and Advan are hard to find @ a reasonable price. ($1500 for 17's ouch.)

Does anyone know any sites where you can buy rims at reletivley good prices? Thanks.

Tenzos ARE cheap, and are about as low as you can go before buying "rims" at pep boys.
Advan and Volk are by far (and I mean FAR) the best that you listed up there. Racing harts sit somewhere inbetween... rice design and crap look, but apparently a good wheel... tenzo, katana, ro_ja, Konig, motegi, axis etc etc are all poo poo wheels.

If you can't afford them new, get them second hand. Find a nice set of used SSRs, Advans, Weds sport, Watanabes, Volk Racings or Work wheels and put them on your already-lowered car and it will look good.

you can get Tenzo for $1200 WITH TIRES...that's a sure sign of cheap wheels. don't listen to them though. if you want rims and you don't have $3000, just buy what you can. fock that. you can get something better and sexier later. i have cheap 17s on my car....most people think they look good, too!

can't wait to get some Volks though.....

Just to throw out some ACTUAL numbers. (prices I paid)

$350 for a PAIR of 17x8 NEW Volk Racing Trophy F-Zero
$500 for a SET of 16x7 and 16x8 Volk Racing Mesh wheels
$250 for a PAIR of 15x7 +5 Volk Racing "Silhouette" mesh.
$20 for ONE SSR Integral A2 18x9 wheel with tiny curb rash

I hope that gives you an idea of what you can buy with what limited budget you're on! (All were WITHOUT tires)

Well, can you tell us where you got those prices? Cuz prices *you* pay might not be prices *we* pay...therefore mooting your point.

I'm all about hookups though...so do tell.

Let me make clear first... that I am in no way, shape or form "hooked up". :) I got two of the "items" on ebay, one from a "FS" ad in zilvia, and one 'by chance' from basically, a Car-parts yard sale... if you may.
Nothing special about me! I'm just a bargain hunter -- even then, I'm not a good one! (If you want good bargain hunting tips, talk to DriftingPanda!!!)

edit: it may help to mention that the only ones that actually fit my 4x114.3 patterned S13 are the set of 16" Volk mesh, and the pair of 15" volk mesh. The pair of Volk Trophy Fzero and the single SSR Integral A2 are both 5x114.3, which I plan to sell. :) well, not the SSR, I'm making that into a $20 coffee table!

werd im not hooked up too

kosei k1s a pair 200 bucks. clear z brakes and coilovers-no tires
southern ways mesh: 150 for a pair with tires
full set of PERFECT black mesh silver lip 0 offset 16x7 riken mesh: 200 bucks
stock s13 SE wheels w/ tires 200 bucks

ok totally agree.. except u said axia is $hit?...
axis is really nice.. u may not like there designe but as far as quality they are just as good as advan and volk... axis cateris to motorsports, and offer just about custom wheels, any offset u want with any size.. great looking wheels availble.. and they now offer the same size rims with huge lip on the rear and the right offset up frotn to clear brakes..
catered to motorsports enthusisasts

btw tenzo's suck... dont buy em theyr are for hondas!..

wow, seriously?? ... errr but... they're so.... cheap! 17x7 for ~$240/wheel and 18x7.5 for ~$280 a wheel... hardly what I'd call expensive. Plus they seem to only stock FWD honda offsets, and don't have any 17" wheel wider than 7.5" (As far as I've seen) ... who would've thought they make race wheels!

Guy in the Ultimate street car challenge with an mr2 was running 4-spoke axis wheels. suposedly very light weight and strong "Racing" wheels.. thats about the extent of my knowledge on them.. Doesn't mean they are quality though. even Tenzo''s, and Motegi are sold as "Racing wheels"

I hate marketers...

Axis/Lenso is one of those wheel companies like Enkei that sells half serious parts and half rice.

Their lightweight four spoke designs are nice - they're one of very few wheel companies to produce dedicated lightweight wheel designs for four lug cars like this:
http://www.axiswheels.com/MagLite_BIG.jpg

But then they also produce 20" bling bling BS like this:
http://www.axiswheels.com/BRAY_BIG.jpg

Whatever makes money, I guess.

The old Axis/Lenso VPD was a great wheel, too bad it's not on their website anymore. The VPD was even for a time offered in a proper 4-lug 240SX size (something like 16x7.5 +30).

I guess that makes them like 5Zigen as well... part rice ****, part good **** (FN01R forged wheels, and a few of their other wheels are somewhere in the middle ground, too) ...

Are there any better sites? There are definetly too many sites selling Honda crap. I can't stand the crazy high offsets and all the choices. I want a quality rim and a reasonable price. I'm not paying $800 for a 17" wheel because that's rediculus!! So again if anyone know's any sites where they sell "good" rims and not super high offsets, that would be great.

Check on other forums, I think 240sx.org (as much as I dislike them :)) has somone with a wheel hookup (exar-kun) he's running volk gram-lights C, which are great wheels and quite cheap for volks. He's also very knowledable (as far as I now) about wheels and suspension in general.

Don't forget the Euro brands like SSR and BBS, those two are both excellant quality.

One wheel I've been interested in are the Kosei K1 racing. Which seem very light for the price. Anyone have further specifc info on them?

wholehyper have good stuff at great prices, jspec has good stuff, autoimaging also has good stuff, gruppes (gruppe-s?) carries almost the whole line of Advan...
What kind of budget are you on? Search ebay for a few weeks, you'll find some good stuff going for cheap.

Dude, as far as I can see, this guy is just going to end up with some FWD offset rice wheel anyway. I can just tell by his previous posts that no comments in this thread will make a dent in his decision, and it really doesn't matter what he decides... Just let him get his +48 Tenzo's, Katana's, etc. and in a couple of weeks, we'll have some funny pics to look at. I bet neon will be involved.
