Im looking to pick up a daily driver/towing my S13 to the track vehicle and only spend about 2000-2500.
Im just looking to see what everyone else uses,or to see if i should just wait and save more money.
What size engine should the motor be so it can tow my car with ease and not struggle.
Im looking into late 80's early 90's F150's
Thanks for any input

Fuck Ford, Just get you a 88-98 Chevy 1/2 or 3/4 ton with a 350, you'll be set. You'd need to get a F150 with at least the 351, the 302's are garbage for towing, and it would suck down that gas(not really easy to come by either).

Who tows with a jeep, seriously?
Hypnotik's advice is sound - 88-98 Chevy 2500 or 3500.
The more heavy duty the truck, the easier it'll be to tow (plus the more useful you can make it).
I have an '88 3500 and it tows like a dream. I can also fill the bed up with gravel or dirt and haul it around. Pallet of ready-mix concrete? No problem.
Try that with a small truck and you'll crush it. F150, you'll break the suspension. Jeep? :keke:

1971 C10 w/ Big block.
Picked her up for $600, some rust issues but its basiclly straight, and drivetrain is in perfect shape.
Gonna be lowered a bit (a lot), disc brakes all around, support air bags in the back. Should tow like a beast. And be awesome.

Until I get pulled over so often its not worth keeping tags on the vehicle. :cops::cops::cops::cops::cops::cops::cops::cops:

Thanks for everyones input, Im gonna look into some other vehicles possibly a chevy pickup.
Has anyone used like a astro van or a econoline van to tow a vehicle? lol
Fuck That i drive to the track!!!!!!!!!!!
As fun as that is,(ive done it before) but the nearest track to me is 1 1/2- 2 hours(175 miles) from me. So if anything goes wrong, thats a huge chunk of change im gonna have to shell out to a towing company.

I have a 97 4runner with a V6. You guy think it would be enough to tow a s14 on a Uhual trailer?
I mostly go to Willow Spring and Buttonwillow

Yea, fuck the commonwealth.
Its whatever, I've done events both ways, 2 hours one way, drive the event.
It's a lot more chill, and I personally do better and have more fun when I don't have to worry about getting home. Break something, load it on the trailer at the end, and scoot.

I busted a water line under the intake manifold 30 miles outside of tucson. MY friend came and got me, and towed my s13 30 miles with his b16 swapped crx fairly easily, so Im going to say it doesnt take much power to tow an s-chasis.

97 Ford Powerstroke, lifted, tires, wheels, chipped, exhaust, intake, injectors. towing a 27' enclosed. the trailer and truck do lots more than tow the car, truck gets driven every day. trailer gets used in summer for the bikes and quads and in the winter for the sleds.

Did he use a tow rope or a trailer? It's a lot different with a trailer. That, and your transmission is going to give out unless it has a trans cooler.
My Cherokee itself is rated to tow 5k lbs, and the hitch on it is rated at 3,500 lbs. I am going to try to use that to tow my S13 from storage to get the tranny swapped.
