how do you keep people from breaking into your cars? I live in an apartment building with one big garage, and there are crackheads in there all the time. I can't move for another 6 months because I go to school here.

i don't like to lock my car, because then they will smash the window (which has happened) or fuck up my lock (which has also happened)

but if I keep it unlocked, then they just come in and make a huge mess in my car trying to look for something and mess up my stereo (it's only 2 fucking screws, and whoever just ruined it not able to remove it just fails at everythhing)

if i have a paging alarm, what am i gonna do? run down into my garage at 4am with a gun? this is california.

it's a problem. last year, I got broken in 5 times and stolen once. i've already had to replace 2 ashtrays because they had a few quarters in them, and now I need yet another one.

I say the more theft deterrents the better so still lock your doors. On top of that I would install a kill switch and an aftermarket steering wheel with the quick release hub so you can take it in the house at night.

Welcome to the new era. Theives are normal people, where stealing and assault on the innocent is equal to running a stop sign. Criminal defense lawyers always win.

Any harm to a theif durring a break in can lead to fines, lawsuits or jail time, even if your not present. In the state of MN or CA, you CANNOT in anyway shape or from make any unwanted advances toward a theif, unless your life is endangered, thus you being physically trapped inwhere inside the motor vehicle, and/or a deadly weapon is present.

The only way to prevent jail time, lawsuits or hefty charges from the state is to dial 911.

To help deter or change somebodys mind about taking your property, invest in 2 pezio 120db sirens in secure them inside the car, under the dash. The shitty alarm sirens that are bundled with newer alarms are too quiet to do anything, get a larger siren off of an old clifford. Kill switches using keys/magnets do a decent job, loom your wiring as well.

Deactivate all electric door switches (even remove the mechanical door lock on door [not the door handle] so they would ahve to crawl in the door to gain access to the car. you can still unlock the car with a key)

Sometimes good window tint can help if its in a dark garage, just hope the dont slice their belly when they crawl through, they CAN sue you for that, happened at Mall of America in MN on a honda.

Loud alarms help, but now days its just music to a theifs ears. I had a civic stripped at Mall of america, the saturday before christmas (07) right in front of thousands of people, including a police officer. They got everything, and when I went out to return to my car, they were parked right next to it swapping all my parts to their Egg hatch, I called the police 8 times, and 45 minutes later they buzzed away. They whole family was helping strip the car. I just finished payments on the car the month before, and didnt have full coverage, total loss.

Gave the plates, discription to the police, got a letter in the mail 2 months later saying "not enough evidence".

MN has some of the most corrupt judges in the country. Both of my cousins are police officers for minneapolis, and you dont want to hear what they have to say about this shit.

With the pager alarm, it will tell you what is being done, like if the door was opened, car started, hood opened etc.. You can use that to determine how serious you need to get down there... use an unlabeled fuel pump switch and an unlabeled power switch and dont put them in obvious spots. my friends shitty 240 has an rb25 in it the car does not have keys at all the rear window wiper button starts the car and another switch turns the power on and the last one turns the fuel pump on he has to its pretty hard to figure out the first time you try to start the car and he lives in a really bad nieghborhood and the cars been like that for 3 years

if you know they come more or less certain days, try setting up a video camera....police are more apt to do something about when someone else did some of the leg work....:spank:

or you can rent out your space to someone and use that money to find a spot that is more "aftermarket car" friendly....

why do you even have a car when you live there?

Most thieves sketch big time with lights.

I also setup a wire to disable my door so that it wouldnt open on the inside, so if someone got in, they wouldnt be able to get out, unless they climb out the window, and hopefully they cut themselves in the process.

3rd is that you can buy this powder that you can put on the door handle of your car.
It reacts with the oils in your hand and stains it a bright purple that cant be washed for days. They also make a powder that is only visible under a UV light, so it would help the cops in identify the culprit.

In this situation most now days they would probably shoot you without question, depending on the area you live in. That or continue stealing your car, because if you dare pop a round off you would be locked up for longer than you would like to imagine.

And most likely they would return to kill you, and their conviction would be much less than yours since there would be multiple suspects.

Only problem with that is the courts would toss the case if the criminal was charged based apon evidence intentionally setup by the victim. your video camera = you trying to get somebody you know in trouble/setup. In the OP's case hes leasing a spot, it would never fly. Again, criminal defense lawyer > 99.9%

Waste of time, a police officer would laugh at you if you said you "got" the theifs finger prints, and you would have lost out on possible help that you could have gotten once the officer tells you "sorry".

The only way to come out slightly even is to pray for a friendly unbiased officer who will actually request the amount of individual damages done, and include that in with the police report. I was fortunate enough to get an officer who gave me a police report of $4,500 worth of physical damages to the vehicle, however I didnt have full coverage - and they let the theif go.

Intentionally trying to coax a theif into incrimination is going to get you into ALOT more trouble than the crime itself, along with losing any possiblities of a police report which some insurance companys will require.

The only way to survive with this bull shit system which is only going to get worse is the contemporary. Paging alarm, a garage with an alarm, removing all door locks, kill switches, multiple stealth installed 120+db sirens with a DEI backup battery/hoodpin. Shatter proof tint and pray they still dont climb through the glass and harm themselves, because they will say a human is incapible of self mutilation unless in a life threatening situation.

You dont want to pay for a theifs medical bill, because you KNOW they dont have insurance.
