The samples are finally finished!!! However, they are still in Japan so once I get them in my hands, I can give a final assessment over the small details. I should hopefully get the first samples in a couple weeks or so. We ordered a black/black checker, but I guess their definition of that is dark grey/black checker. Let me know if you guys are ok with the light gray/black checker and dark gray/black checker. If everyone is cool with those variations, then I will not even bother making a true black/black checker.

YAY!!!! So the samples came in this morning, and I found some time to do a test fit on the S14 we have here.

From the 2 sets I test fitted today, I'm very pleased with the overall fit and finish. I was really worried about the thickness of the mat. Too thin would definitely not feel nice, and too thick would cause problems with the seat rails/trim pieces and wouldn't bend to curves as nicely. Luckily, the thickness of the mats was a good match. Sizing/fitment is perfect, and the hole for the stopper hook does its job. The one-piece rear floor mat for S14 fits like a glove, and wraps over the tranny tunnel perfectly. Heel pad is durable and felt really nice under the pedal.

Hey guys!! Just wanted to let you guys know I finally finished test fitting the mats on the S13. There were some slight issues with the mat not clearing the foot rest, so we re-worked that section and while we were at it, we decided to produce a "full-size" mat for S13s. After feedback from many drivers over the weekend, we have now redesigned the mat to cover the whole floorboard, unlike the OEM mat that does not cover the hump by the trans tunnel. So the end result will look more like an S14 driverside mat for S13, but trimmed down to fit better.

Fitment is good, disregard the door bars, that's obviously not going to clear there

Cool stuff if you think about it, there's no "cool" floormats out for import aftermarket, even though it makes a huge visual difference in the interior

Also for the S14 guys the rear mats are cool since it's all one piece so you can see the checker bling on the trans hump haha

Once we get a solid ETA, I'll put up for Black S14 mats. Why are these expensive? 1st off, they aren't. Cheaper than OEM. More importantly, you can not buy these from Nissan anymore. The only other options are cheap knock offs, smelly foot used and torn ones, or ones with the heel plate on the wrong side so you look like an idiot. Your choices.. I like the price.

most checkered floor mats (i've seen) LOOK white but are actually a light grey color, when you put a light grey next to a black it makes it look white from a distance... i guess it's cause white gets really ugly when it gets dirty no matter how much you clean it... so making it a light grey eliminates that greyish color white gets when dirty...

but yeah like i said before... dmax could you make that grey a bit lighter...

yup, you definitely get refund if not enough for production, but I doubt it.

Paypal has a 60 days refunds policy without any fees, that's why we requested paypal payments.

Credit card will cost us 3% + transaction fee .. not a good idea.

we will have ETA shortly. Right now Dmax Japan still busy with TAS (Tokyo Auto Salon) .. We hope to have an answer in a week or so.

i think a hard material in black would look nice but also i think people might want those aluminum plates even if they don't look that nice imo they are really functional...

just stick with the stock design on that part, some kind of rubber footing... no metal or aluminum or any kind of metal sitting on the carpet, it could cause rust to spread onto the fabric if the coating was ever compromised.

For the heel pad, there are generally 2 options: reinforced carpet, and rubberized plastic.

Reinforced carpet is what we normally use for the VIP/Bellezza floormats. However they are pretty pricey.

Rubberized plastic heel pad would look similar to the Karo ones. These are generally cheaper, but not as comfortable.

it was discussed before, the blue is MAYBE so you can see the edges and the shape, because black on black would not let you see the heel plate and edges...

Bejota is correct!! At first, I thought we might do colored trim, but realized it didn't look good. But I had to leave the outline because you couldnt tell where the heel pad was.....

Also, solid black doesnt seem to be too popular, so we may not even do it at all. I have seen a sample of black/black checker which was kinda interesting....So if you guys like that style, please speak up!!!

i was thinking about this earlier and ive heard of people wanting dark grey/black and light grey/black and was gonna propose INSTEAD of black why not make the black/black checkered and a greyish/black checker? cause it should make both parties happy and people who want black will get black also included like 3 birds in one hit? would make black carpet + black/black checkers + black/white(grey) checkers people happy!

Quick updates for you guys:

1)Finding ONE carpet supplier (at a reasonable price) for all the colors you guys are asking for is kind of difficult. So far, every supplier we have contacted can make red/black, and blue/black checker for sure. But then, only a couple can do black/black checker, and those suppliers do not have light grey/black checker.

2)1 piece rear mats for S13 will not be able to be made. Since the rear hump on the S13 is so complex, the floor mat will not lay down properly. Therefore, S13s will have 2 piece rear mats, and S14s will continue to have 1 piece mats.

3)Roll cage cutout versions will most likely be produced on a later batch due to the lack of cars for me to do templates/test fits on. I would like to test fit on at least 3-5 cars (both S13 and S14) with various cages just so that I will be confident you guys wont have any issues.

If anyone is local to the Torrance area that is willing to let me check out your car for test fitting (S13s and S14s with roll cages), please PM me.

I stand with the grey/black. It's hard to identify the checkered pattern if it's black/black. That sort of defeats the purpose. Might as well be plain black. But that's just me.

We just got word from Japan that we were able to find a factory that can produce ANY color that we need. So we are having them produce sample mats for us so that we can see their quality at the price point we want. It should take about a week or so for the samples.

Our Japan office already received the LHD version floormat templates, so we are just waiting on the actual fabric and samples.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm checking in with Japan-side everyday for their progress reports, but it has been pretty lacking.

First of all, please know that the major reason for the delays is that it is me, personally, that is being picky. I am trying my hardest to provide everyone a quality piece, but at a reasonable price point. I REFUSE to cut back on quality just to make a "quick" dollar.

For example, we received a sample book of fabric swatches from a company that said they could produce a quality floormat in the color patterns we wanted, at a low price point.

For me, this is not acceptable. First of all, the fabric is way too thin. Secondly, the dye used seems as though it would fade in sun, meaning your red checker mat is gonna turn pink!! Third, the trim on the edge of the mat is very loose, and will easily unravel. Lastly, the heel pad offered is a hard plastic, and if your feet are even a little wet, your heel will not stay in place.

It actually takes a lot of forethought to produce a floormat (more than I thought really), but I feel like I shouldn't "settle" for any of the parts I put on my car, even if it is just a floormat....

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of udpates recently. The last month has been ridiculously hectic and confusing. My incessant pressuring of japan-side has just made D Max Japan upset, and they pretty much said "Do it yourself then!!" So, we were forced to redo the whole process all over again. The biggest problem was that we could not find a quality floor mat supplier that could do everything we wanted in-house. But the good news is we were able to find a supplier that was able to meet the majority of our demands, such as colors, floor mats, and "D Max" logo plate. We are still waiting for a sample of the mats to verify thickness/quality.

So cliff notes -
-Colors are confirmed for blue/black checker, red/black checker, grey/black checker, and black/black checker
-Heel pad will be dense fabric (a rubber/plastic heel pad seemed like it might crack after a couple years)
-Outside trim color will be black for all mats
-D Max logo will be an embroidered sewn-on patch. We attempted to use a metal plaque with the D Max logo printed on it, but it seemed like it would get scratched/faded easily

As for the D Max patch, we just received the samples in the mail yesterday.

We have decided to go with a darker blue logo, since it will not show dirt so easily. We have also asked them to round the corners so that when it is stitched into the mat it will not unravel easily.

The samples are finally finished!!! However, they are still in Japan so once I get them in my hands, I can give a final assessment over the small details. I should hopefully get the first samples in a couple weeks or so. We ordered a black/black checker, but I guess their definition of that is dark grey/black checker. Let me know if you guys are ok with the light gray/black checker and dark gray/black checker. If everyone is cool with those variations, then I will not even bother making a true black/black checker.

There didnt seem like much demand for a roll cage cutout version, so we do not plan on stocking it/mass-producing it. We can get a single order custom mat done for about $60 extra. The upside is that we can produce a mat SPECIFIC to your car, even trunk mats if you wanna get fancy. A custom order mat also includes the option of ordering a different color than what is normally offered.

Bernard is not in today, but afaik, DMAX USA is still waiting for the samples to arrive here to test fit be fore production starts. So no ETA yet.

YAY!!!! So the samples came in this morning, and I found some time to do a test fit on the S14 we have here.

From the 2 sets I test fitted today, I'm very pleased with the overall fit and finish. I was really worried about the thickness of the mat. Too thin would definitely not feel nice, and too thick would cause problems with the seat rails/trim pieces and wouldn't bend to curves as nicely. Luckily, the thickness of the mats was a good match. Sizing/fitment is perfect, and the hole for the stopper hook does its job. The one-piece rear floor mat for S14 fits like a glove, and wraps over the tranny tunnel perfectly. Heel pad is durable and felt really nice under the pedal.

Hey guys!! Just wanted to let you guys know I finally finished test fitting the mats on the S13. There were some slight issues with the mat not clearing the foot rest, so we re-worked that section and while we were at it, we decided to produce a "full-size" mat for S13s. After feedback from many drivers over the weekend, we have now redesigned the mat to cover the whole floorboard, unlike the OEM mat that does not cover the hump by the trans tunnel. So the end result will look more like an S14 driverside mat for S13, but trimmed down to fit better.
