ok, I've had a bogging and backfiring issue for a long time now, and I'm really pissed now. I can't figure it out. I rarely drive it because of the weather, (Michigan.) But I really want to fix it so I can sell it and get a s14. So here it is ... again. Under full boost at any psi when the accelerator is over about 80% down it sputters, bogs out, and backfires really badly, sometimes not as bad as others. Randomly sometimes it won't do it, but rarely and usually just in 1st sometimes second gear. I took it to the dyno in Jackson (pauls high performance) and we couldnt figure it out. I've re grounded it, new spark plugs, adjusted the bov, checked for boost leaks and fixed the ones we found, and i had a buddy play around with the safc. Once before when it was doing it I replaced the spark plugs and it was fine, and a month or so later, bam, and the same thing with the safc. So now, I'm lost. I've got a million ideas of what it could be but I dont have a million dollars...
Did you check your tps?It could be the culprit.

do you have a boost gauge installed? if so what reading is it getting to before it does this?
i had a 93 WRX that was doing the same shit, and if i replaced the plugs it would work fine for about a month and then happen again. and it would only do it when i got on it like you are describing. it turns out that it was a bad boost sylenoid so you may want to check that, unless you are running some sort of aftermarket boost controller.

my boost gauge reads anywhere from 3 to maybe 7 psi before it goes nuts. It's really unpredictable though. I took it out for a spin last weekend and it wasnt nearly as bad, but still on and off.

sounds dumb but have you tested/replaced your coilpacks?

Same thing happened to me.
Timing ended up being off by like half a tooth.
