ok so when i am driving everything is fine until i go full throttle and once i hit about 4k rpm this repetitive noise comes out my exhaust. its like im redlining it but both my rpm's and my speed keep climbing like normal. i havent even done anything to the engine so i have no clue what is going on. my ideas are endless but nothing certain.
timing
maf
vaccuem line
blown turbo(but my boost gauge says im still getting boost)
exhaust leak
any ideas or helpful information and if you live in the socal area PM me and maybe we can meet up and ill show you what im talking about. ill even try to post a vid but that might take awhile.

Not a blown turbo for sure.
Is it just a noise or does it seem to hold boost back and lag the car?
Likely not the MAF but takes some brake cleaner and spray it threw until the mesh is all shiny. Check all the noticeable vacuum lines, but likely isn't that either or else you would notice it constantly. Possibly your timing or your car is running very rich.
Also last question... does the noise or hesitation go away higher in the power band or does it stay from 4000k +?

the car definatly feels laggy. i dont think it was the maf either but it was just an idea. my car is running rich and i need a tune. and its from 4000k + but once i hear the noise i change to the next gear. anybody know a place in sd to get a tune?

I would check your Coilpack's that sounds like your misfiring alot. Likely have some cooked coils.
Find someone with a set of coils and test it. I bet that is your problem:D

Im having the same proablem only i dont think its the coils,it feels more like the MAF but the MAF checks out fine.
When it happens theres no noise it just hesitates around $k and then picks up like nothing every happend and then some times hesitates inbetween 4k and redline.
Im stumped.

Likely your coils also, but what MAF are you running? it can make a difference.

brake clean has been known to damage mafs. there is a special spray cleaner that is made for cleaning MAFs. but that doesnt even sound like your issue. im betting coils too. you dont have to get new ones. just coat them with something to prevent the coils from grounding out, thats what the cause is. ive seen people successfully fix this problem with hondabond and urethane seal. ive heard of people trying liquid electrical tape but i dont know how that would hold up against the heat.
i would try that first before going out and and buying new coilpacks

leesredgt - i think you should try this too, if it was your maf i dont think you would be able to rev over 4k.

sorry guys i havent even been near a computer in the past three days. is there a way that i can check if mine are damaged. it makes sense that its the coils for me but i dont want to purchase new ones unless i know for sure it need to be replaced. anyone in the socal area have any rb coils that they can maybe let me borrow just to check???

Large amounts of cracking can make coils faulty. I work as a Tech at Toyota and let me tell you the 2J coils or notorious for this.
Never heard of brake cleaner damaging maf's. I have used them on likely 30+ RB & SR maf's without a problem.
leesredgt - what oem rb maf are you using. It makes a difference, if your using a RB20 maf on RB25 it will not run as good. And RB26 is the worst but that rarely happens with RB20/25 guys because the plug is different.
