hi, i just install 300zx calipers all around on my 95 240sx. for some reason, the brake just wont lock up. i feel like i have no brake or pressure. i install a 17/16 300zx brake master and i have a auto booster, the padel is really really stiff and i could only brake like 50%,so i switch to 1" brake master and it still the same old shit. if anyone have any answer, please help. cuz i have no more idea

i know this is a stupid question... but did you bleed them all the way?

this would be my guess. it sounds like you have all of the correct supporting mods to go along with the brake upgrade so i would just recommend bleeding them again.

he said his pedal was really stiff, air in the brake system does just the opposite so i doubt thats the culprit

maybe due for a caliper rebuild then? maybe the pistons are seized and not pressing the pads to the rotors

yeah, if youve swapped MC's and still havin the prob, id take a look at those calipers ur runnin. while ur there just spring for some speed bleeders and save yourself some time.

Might be a dead booster. Follow the FSM troubleshooting.

did you bench bleed the MC and could be combined with the dead booster,

Also did you install the calipers with the bleeder valves pointing up?

and you sure you have good vacuum running to the booster? Low vacuum can cause a high, stiff pedal.

if you have a still pedal and can't lock up the brakes then i'd check the booster. no other reason for there to be a stiff ass pedal

i switch to 1" brake master and it still the same old shit

This suggests that the brake booster is not functioning correctly.

Check vacuum line for leak and manifold vacuum. If not, replace the booster.

you guys should all make sure you have that little 1 way check valve going in line in the right direction....

OP: What pads/rotors are you using? Did you rebuild your calipers?

Hmmm i have the same setup on my 89. I have only about 50% original travel, but once its there, the harder i press the tighter the calipers grab. i can lock all 4 all day long.

make sure you have the right rotors and pads for the calipers (26mm vs 30mm), check your install (bleed screw up), bleed everything.

If you have MT booster then this is your problem. Upgrade to Auto booster and Z master cylinder. Of course do the obvious checks but i am willing to bet this is your problem.

having done this are you 100% sure that your calipers arent seized?

check the vacuum source to the booster as well. they run off of vacuum and aren't designed to see boost. so as someone said earlier, also make sure that check valve is installed.

air in the lines would not cause the pedal to be hard. there could be a seized caliper causing a hard pedal, but i'm betting on a booster problem.
