i have eagle rods and mahle pistons in my sr20det botttom end. and the pistons tapped the oil squirters and broke 2 of them. so we called the piston company and they said if you want a race motor then fix it but we would have to coustomize the piston to make it work. has anyone had this issue before if so what did you do to fix the problem?

Did you get SR20DE pistons or SR20DET? Please correct me if I am wrong, but the difference is the clearance for the squirters. Some say the pistons are the same DE vrs DET, just the notch for the squirter.

Search is your friend.

There is several theads about Mahle Pistons breaking off oil squirters... Mahle says you can remove about 2mm from the location with out sacrificing balance.

Supposedly Mahle was fixing this issue in their current line.... you may have recieved old stock.

i was dealing with this over a year ago with mahle and i couldnt get them to do anything about it, my machine shop tried to mod the pistons, still didnt work. i ended up buying new pistons (different brand). they didnt want to help or have a solution but like i said this was over a year ago, maybe things have changed by now.

good luck
