so yea.... i finished my swap. finally. no more SR.

list of mods that i can think of that are engine related

ws6 ls1 65k miles

thunderracing c6 reworked oil pump

arp rod bolts

ls2 oil pan etc

daft innovations headers, HEAVILY reworked.

ObjectiveD mounts.
solid. used prothane inserts for tranny and engine mounts.

msd wires

4" intake with k&n.

probably more stuff that i just don't think about. just happy it runs, builds good oil pressure and sounds good.

anyhow, car is about ready for testdrive, i got to work out an issue with ps line being in too close to the header, couple little things and its ready to roll out.

my friend steve came by the shop made a quick video..

here it is.

Cool man. what did you have to do to the headers?

had to move one of the runners closer to clear the frame. was too close. the driver side is too close to the u- joint for steering, had to flatten out a spot, one of the collectors had to be slightly moved to clear power steering line. but i guess not bad, i took them in and out about 10-12 times.

UPGRAYYYEED.

so i made a few improvements since i am dailing the car now.

1) 5.0 shifter. feels phenomenal. #1 mod to do, a must.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b396/vodka1983/100_0223.jpg

2) y-pipe and custom exhaust apexi style. super nimble and awesome sounding. i can finally hear. no more turn downs. 2 nights, lots of mocking up, cutting, welding, tigging and cussing and its done. very tedious mod but well worth the work put in. car feels like a car again and not like a truck with a 350 in it and straight pipes!

pics of the work done....

So those motors are really lighter than SR's? And good job, i will be doing this in the future when my wallet lets me.

it depends. with a tranny it weight a bit more than sr but tranny is in the middle so it really doesn't change a whole lot as far as f/r balance.

nice man..props on doing it yourself. Sikky Manufacturing makes everything you need to do the swap, but it seems you had no real issues doing it yourself.

also...are your wheels dipped in "snow camo" paint?

420sx
03-19-2009, 10:08 PM
not my car, but yes we dipped/painted those. its actually military digital camo. i got snow/urban, but the one pictures are green digital
