as stated by the OP, a vid of their GT-R breakin the transmission.

We knew it was only a matter of time with how hard we were pushing this car. And today was that day.

BUT... at least we set a new record earlier in the day. [email protected] http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/clap.gif

YouTube - Samurai Speed Breaks Their GT-R's Transmission! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y27VMeSrJas&eurl=http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=27307&st=0&feature=player_embedded)

At the very end of the day (after I had called it quits) I came up with this great idea...

"Hey, let's do one last run against the stock GT-R and get a cool video shooting directly from behind them..."

Chuck grabbed the camera and off we went...

The video isn't all that exciting, but I think it's the first known broken GT-R tranny caught on video.

* Believe it or not, I'm not all that upset about it. We knew we were going to have to upgrade it eventually, so now it will just happen sooner rather than later.

\sorry if its a repost.

High 5 bro

I bet the cost of a new OEM tranny is as much as a downpayment on a house

no, I know they are 20k... it's not a rumor. Only one dealership in the state of WV able to work on them and it's in my home town, Harry Green Chevrolet... I know the GTR tech they have.

Oh

Oops

I guess he was supposed to leave it in some fancy garage to collect dust like some matchbox cars

It's a car based around the ideals that you wanna go fast and look badass.

I think he's awesome as fuck for blowing that tranny.

Now it is.. it's not exactly going anywhere

it's not going fast and being loaded on a rollback at a podunk drag strip. certainly doesn't sound badass. I guess to each their own.

someone has to find the limits of the car. now stronger parts can be made.

Have you guys seen that car launch? It fucking rips out of the hole. Im glad that someone is going to do something about the tranny. Now all the GT-R haters won't have anything to bitch about.

I think you're full of shit. Nobody works on the R35 tranny. Mine's, HKS and a shit-ton of other big name JDM tuners don't want to crack them open...you expect us to believe that some Chevy dealer in some back-woods part of WV has a miracle-worker employed that's willing to pull one and work on it...double bullshit because Nissan does't sell tranny parts for the R35 GT-R...the whole unit comes under one part number.

Maybe he's the HHR tech...

PS-$14k USD is the price from Nissan

Sorry if you were being sarcastic and I just didnt catch it.

I agree 1000% in every trial-and-error scenario, there has to be some "error"...you don't think some genius just farted and found the Getrag in his pants do you?

The new GT-R will have to be tuned leaving conventional tuning methods at the door. I love the GT-R but hate the idea that this where the automotive industry is headed...cars already built to such high standards that Joe Blow can't improve it with some research and a few dollars. The OEMs will take all the fun out of it.

Yeah that's the problem you just don't crack open semi sequential gearboxes like they are some manually shifted H patterns I wonder is there an FSM released. I know the EVO X SST will be probably serviceable in a year or two? So for any current gear box breakage they are completely replaced as a whole unit.
