Got complimented by some BMW dude

Tonight as I was leaving the gym I began to have a conversation with my friend about insurance rates raping me, etc. etc. Shortly after an older guy (in his 30's) joins in on the conversation and mentions that he only pays xxx amount of dollars.

Blah blah blah, I ask him what sort of car he drives. He replies, with music to my ears, "a 97 M3". So naturally I become more involved in the conversation. Soon enough he asks me what sort of car I drive, I say "nissan 240", he replies "A 240sx!?! Sweet! Those cars are great! The BMW club here gets plenty of track time in the summer, you should definatly come out and run with us sometime!". Suprised, I thank him for the offer and we depart after we exchange some more compliments.

As he's leaving, he turns around and says "I'm glad you didn't go to the dark side... never go to the dark side" referring to front wheel drive. So that put a smile on my face and pretty much made my night. :D

Anyone have similar experiences?

One time i was over at a Nissan service center near my house and im walking in and i hear some say.."Hey do you have a 2.0 in that?" and i turn around in amazement. and say yea. When i finally get all the way around and look at the guy, its like a 50 year old man, and i asked him how he knew and he just said he knew about sr's and stuff, he was planning on putting a FWD SR in his sentra... It was pretty cool, he kept on sayignh ow hot ym car was, even though its not painted and not even close to done... Made me feel pretty cool

Another time, i was doing a nice stand still burn out and a 1st gen rx7 pulled up and started to flash his brights so i stopped and parked, he got out and started asking what i had and i told him and he asked me to pop my hood, and then he says the magic word "I wanna put a sr in my 510" I wa slike wow....what?! he walked me over to his garage and what do i see... a hot ass 510 with custom coilovers. he said he had motor work done, prolly around 175 hp but the car was outta commision due to a blown head gasket (IIRC).. it was still pretty hot......

One time I was driving on the freeway when this dude in a BMW wanted to race. He blinked his hazards and pulled up next to me. I gave it gas and my 240 took off like a really slow rocket. The BMW was next to me the whole time. I got so mad, I threw a snapple bottle at him. It bounced off his windshield and landed in the next lane. He was scared and almost hit the car in the other lane. He sure looked angry!

This other time, I was on a boba run with a couple of my friends when we saw this hot chick. But nothing happened.

If it amounts to anything, the driver of a '02 Carrera 4S commented how "pretty fast" I was, after having driven behind him for several miles in part of an organized drive in the hills of this area. I just nodded and accepted the compliment, not having the heart to tell him the car's engine is 13 years old, stock.

Nope. No one ever compliments the car and everyone hates my car, after a race. But it's ok, I'm not out to gain acceptance from people I don't know. Some people will nod.

I serieously hope your kidding.

Why in the heck would you throw a snapple bottle at someone, they are glass bottles. I hope karma comes back 10 fold and someone throws a brick at your car.

Seriously what if it hit his side window, or someone else's and brok their window, who knows what would have happened.

I am an agent of karma. My car was shot at once for no good reason. I'm just distributing my karma one snapple bottle at a time.

Dunno about you, but when I throw bottles at people, I expect things to break like windows, headlights, skulls, etc.

I dunno about anyone else, but if anyone ever threw a bottle, espially a glass bottle at my car, i wouldn't hesitate to either lay that person out... seriously think before you do things, i know kids that woulda shot you for that.... You have no clue if that person was a off-duty cop or maybe a killer......

Alright, now getting back on topic....That's pretty sweet that you got complimented Titan. I've gotten compliments before from other drivers on my car, but only at autox's.
As for you Hooter, you're a complete jackass for throwing **** at someone's moving car just because you couldn't pull on him. I hope you never go to the track and act like that if you get beat. You're lucky the guy in the bimmer didn't track you down and beat the crap out of you, because that's what I would've done.

Actually at the track, I lay down a spike strip at the finish line. It really ****es people off when they go flying off the track into oblivion.

The scenario I presented actually happened in reverse. I was driving down the freeway in my Miata when some dudes in an Integra pulled up next to me. The guy in the passenger side gave me the thumbs down. I ignored him, switched lanes and the teggy switched lanes with me. Then the guy in the passenger side threw a Snapple bottle at me. Thankfully he missed as I swerved at the last minute. I took the guy's licese plate down and reported it to the cops. Would have followed him but Miatas are pretty slow in stock form.

To get back on topic, someone complemented my car at a 240sx meet which is hard to believe since it looks like crap. I get a lot of people staring at my wheels and I saw 2 teenagers staring at my car once as I walked out of a local 7-11.

A guy asked me for my number once when I was in my Miata. That was kinda weird.

My friends S14, the car you see below, got complimented by an m3 owner, the owner also wanted to buy his car! My friend was at a gas station pumping gas and the guy with the M3 tells his gf to pump the gas for him, he walks over to my friend and said "is that a silvia?" My friend replies "why yes" with a grin on his face. The M3 owner says mane those things are sweet, there so fast. Then he goes onto mention he test drives bmw's for bmw. He explained how his friend has a 240sx with sr20det in it and spanks all the new bmw's, the new m3 333hp got smoked, and the new M5 got beat by a car. He wanted to buy my friends nissan, gladly he said.....NO! I just thought explaining this little encounter would put smiles on your faces knowing your turbocharged 4 banger can take out M cars when you know what your doing :D

A stock S14 with SR should not be able to take an M3,

333HP to 205HP, that's too big of a difference, and it's not liek M3s are boats.

if anything your friend should have been sold it, and overcharged him, (there are plenty more 240s out there), I would rather own an M3 though

I didnt say the 240 his friend had was stock, the sr20det 240 that raced the m3 and m5 was built, read what i wrote, i never said a stock sr would take an m3 thats nonsense.
