Carb'ed SR20 road racing

Hello all,

Its been a while (like years) since I last posted on zilvia.net.
Back then I still have my black ka24det S13 coupe.
I sold it when I graduated in 2005 and now I live & work on the other side of the world (Indonesia)

We've been participating in Fastron IRTCC (Indonesian Retro Touring Car Championship) since 2007 and just last weekend, we took out our newly built 510 to replace our old 510.
Well if everything with sponsorship goes smooth for next year, we'll race with both our old and new 510.

I know its not a Z or an S but at least the engine is SR hehe.
Just for the sake of sharing cuz I think not many people go carb on an SR20.
(Hell, we went carb just because of the regulation hehe)

Luck was just not on our side considering that this is the first event we race with our new car.
Well at least it gave us something to do (more improvements) in the off season until next year's season starts again in April 09.

I know the car still have a lot of "minuses" but we'll take any comments & input to improve our racing

Btw, here's the spec:
1973 Datsun 510
SR20DE low port(OC8 code on the head)
Weber DCOE 45mm with 38mm choke/venturi (regulation)
Brian Crower Stage 2 camshafts
MH Motorsport stage 1 port & polish
OEM engine parts everything else (regulation states that engine block must be all OEM but head is free to mod)
custom 4 to 1 header
Straight pipe exhaust

Z24 5-speed transmission (we use this because we got it for free)
3.7 final gear & locked diff (our 4.3 disintegrated during preliminary shakedown test)

Fully adjustable front suspension (custom)
Tokico front shocks
Billstein rear shocks
All teflon bushings for arms

And other stuff which I don't think its necessary to post because we made most of the parts ourselves to save costs

good race while it lasted. so what caused the fuel pump to fail if you dont mind me asking..

After the race, we found out that the wiring connector for the fuel pump came loose maybe because of vibration & heat that day.

Sucks but oh well..
Sometimes, things that you would least expect to fail just happens

Oh man i love the 510!!!!!!!

I just sold mine, but currently building my uncles 71 2dr we are swapping the sr20de into it.

ohhhhh man what a bummer! Incredible driving, very very well maneuvered. Such bad luck though.. man.

I love the sneak past the the 8th and 9th position drivers after that gnarly S-curve ^_^

Man when you passed those guys for 8th place I threw a fist up for you lol. The battle you were having with the eight 6 was a good one too. Very nice car and nice vid.

Hey, here is my set-up that will be going in a 510 as soon as I can find a decent body. I also have a manifold for FCR slide carbs made by SSR Works, once I can find a good price on a set. Two pics:
