this is a how to on bypassing the active speakers in an s13 coupe . because ive searched and searched for the longest time and put up some poasts but no one gave me a straight anwser.

so here we go first off there are 3 stock amps there is one in each door behind the speakers. and the other one is in the trunk under the rear deck its the silver thing hanging there. im not going to explain on how to take the door panels off but once they are off un screw the speakers and the amps will be right there.un screw the amp and un hook the connector for the amp

the wires that you need to cut are

for the front left blue w/yellow stripe & blue w/white stripe

the blue w/yellow will be your new front left neg -
the blue w/white will be the front left pos +

for the front right you need the brown w/white stripe & the solid brown

the brown w/white stripe is front right pos +
the solid brown is front right neg -

for the rear amp you need to cut the red, green, violet and pink

for the rear left you need the red and green

the red is rear left pos +
the green is rear left neg -

and for the rear right you need the violet and pink

the violet is rear right pos +
the pink is rear right neg -

dont cut any other wires from the conectors they are not needed
but if you do tape them really good because they will still have power and if there not taped up and touch metal you'll short something

now you have the fun task of putting your door panels back on
but look on the bright side now you have 3 verry crappy amps just sitting around. maybe you you can paint them red and sell them to some guy with a civic making him think there sony xplod's

this based on my experiance if anyone encounters any thing different on the s13 let me know

good luck

Well, you won't have current running through the wires if you don't connect the useless ones to the HU.

That's a good write up. It took me 3 days and a multimeter to figure that out.

wow, I guess the FSM makes all the difference in the world :)
I just put new speakers in my other 240, and it took me 10mins with the FSM's wiring diagram :)

I swear that thing has paid for itself 10x over by now :D

You guys make it too difficult. I just ran new wires to my new 6 1/2's when I put them in. I said skrew it when I saw all the wires coming in. It was a whole lot easier just running new wires, and you know what they do without testing them with a voltometer.

especially if you are running an amp then just run the wires straight to the speakers.... the rears are easy.... the fronts take a little bit more work but you will have better wiring anyways and still bypass (the question u want answered.... i never cut the stock wires because what if you sell the car or whatever....

This is a pretty good thread. Into the FAQ it goes!
