Ok I have a 97 s14 and im installing a 95 ka which ecu can I use? 97/98 or 95/96 any info would be helpful.Im aware of the obd change.

You'll have to use the 95 KA. It also depends on which harness your gonna have to use. OBDII I believe has a few extra sensors so if you use your 97 harness you'll have some plugs that don't go anywhere and in turn you'll have to use the 95 ECU.

I this is just speculation so I'm sure someone with more knowledge'll chime in.

You'll have to use the matching computer for whatever engine you put in. With newer engines, come more sensors, (why?, sometimes I don't know). For that reason, that's what you'll have to do. That will also mean that there will be some connections that won't get reconnected after the fact. You might be able to get away with using the 97 harness but it may also have to be changed. With new cars working more like a computer than a car should, the wiring has to match up as well most of the time.
