SR - Quick input, harness compatability Redtop/blacktop

Hi,

I have a redtop s13 sr20 in my car currently, and it's been giving me smoking issues. I have a blacktop I am about to swap in, with harness ecu and all that, but it has a fairly crappy looking harness (I did it like 2 years ago), would it be possible to retain redtop ECU/wiring harness and use it on the blacktop? Anything need changing as far as pinouts? Thanks.

just redo the harness. did you already make the necessary extensions made to the harness? if not take the time to redo the harness and make the extensions to the wire harness. unless when u say the harness is crappy looking u mean its all chopped up and sensors melted, then i would suggest using the redtop harness. also what year blacktop and redtop?

I believe its early year s13 black top, i forgot ecu code the redtop has the 62.

Harness just looks like crap, i may redo it but im somewhat short on time since im trying to get this car done before thanksigving break.

Both harnesses are done up but one is more appealing (Redtop).

I just want to make sure i can use a blacktop engine with the redtop harness and ECU, or is there anything i'll need to do to make sure it works.

Pretty sure you just need to switch over a couple of the wires on the O2 sensor plug, as the signal wire is on the end (I forget which end) instead of being in the middle.

Otherwise, they're interchangeable.

Just use the same ECU for which ever harness your using. But in all reality, early S13 blacktops are the same as redtops. Pinouts the same and everything. I started off with a blacktop and swapped in a redtop after i had a rod knock. Everything plugged in the same way and was using the blacktop ECU and harness.
