sohc KA upper engine clicking. comes and goes.

i had a couple injectors that started leaking and as it got worse, the engien started making a clicking noise. sounds sort of like lifter tick(seems too loud for injector clicking). sped up with rpms. i then changed the injectors and it ran very smooth and the clicking went away. i just started clicking again today(about a week after new injectors). i know its not knocking so im not very worried because the clicking comes and goes. today when it was cold it didnt click then the majority of the time driving it later it did.

upper timing chain guide?

sohc dosnt have a guide on top
could be the plastic guide on the exhaust side
mide made that sound too

ill check it. i replaced ruined front cover due to a broken guide(chain cut through water passage) and put a used guide in. i know that the water oil mix didnt damage internals because it was fixed RIGHT after this happened.

would the plastic guide possibly make a noise that comes and goes?

im still lost. i have lucas in the oil so i dont think it would be lifters.
