Subframe Spacers

I put on subframe spacers to stop the slop on my car. Once they were on i drove my s13 around for a whilethinking they had to set in. After a while i still heard the SLOP sound on my car. So i dont know what else it could be. Maybe tranny mount?? any helpers thanks

Im not sure how to explain the slop sound. umm when i break, the back of the car would lift up and make a slop sound or a slap sound when 2 hands clap. but with the subframe spacers, it should have taken that off, i can feel that ther car doesnt lift up anymore, but the sound is sill there.

It could be a combination of all your mounts.

Tranny, Engine, FLCA, Diff, subframe, etc.

its prob something else besides the subframe if you bolted that sucker up good and tight. Have you checked out all the other bushings in the rear end (diff mounts, etc?)

I havent check any other mounts yet, i was hoping you guys might of had the same problem and pin pointed out the problem right away. But i am gonna have to check all those things out and i never thought of checking the carrier bearing. So ill check that out today and come back with my results.

I just got to work and while i was driving the car it still made the slop noise as i shift gears and as i step on the gas. Not to much noise when i step on the gas. Just giving you guys more info. But i will be checking everything (mounts) later on today.

The carrier bearing from the drive shaft? How would i know if its bad?

Subframe spacers don't help if the subframe bushings are completely annihilated. Maybe you should check to see if you still have play in the subframe bushings...

i ripppedd my tranny mount in half and it was all like wowowowowowofapapapap

is probally your diff. my freind had the same noise because the previous owner didn't tighen down the rear two diff bolts. try that of the 2 bolts in the middle of the drive shaft that hold it up.

OP, Check the toruqe on the subframe bolts....

Your carrier bearing you check by shaking the DS. If there's hella play in your bearing, like if the DS moves around alot in the housing, you're done.

But other than that, all your bushings and rear suspension and chassis bolts are definately where I would start looking. Just put a wrench on your bolts and make sure everything's tight as well

you sure you dont have a baseball in the spare tire wheel well? It could be rolling around and making noise when you stop?

Hahah nope there no ball back there. and i found out the problem but i dont know what part it is? dif mount?
i need bushings in that area were i circled in red with a "?" mark. were can i get those bushing?

The rear differential is what I was thinking. I believe that that paticular differential does not have bushings. There is a tiny hole where the bolt slides into and bolts into the frame. The S14 and Skyline have the bushings.

Have you tried to torque down the bolts?

I havent tried thats yet. i was hoping i could find bushing for it? But im still goona try tightning it more down but if thats the max then i would need bushings.

That is the thing, if the picture I posted is the same part as yours. There are no bushings required. If you needed the bolts/spacer or something, I have the stock ones that did not seem to have any issues.

You could go to a local junk yard and have them get the parts.

Alright cool. i fixed the problem just by going to the local Ace Hardwear store and buying bushings. haha.

For the past few months, I've been getting a lot of noise coming from the rear. Everytime I would accelerate and then let off the gas, I hear a loud clunk. Also going over major bumps, I could also hear some noise.

I finallly found a good deal on some used SPL subframe collars and installed them today. It not only fixed my problem but it improved the ride and comfort. It is such a night and day difference. What baffles me is that when I installed the spacers and checkout my rubber bushings in the subframe, they looked perfect. They wern't cracked or even dry.

But in the end, I am so happy it fixed my problem. Now the car is much more drivable.
