Exhaust problem

Hey guys, I just swapped a ka24de into my hatch and took out the pairc; however, the pipe that still attaches to the exhaust is still there. I took a look at the nut and it is stripped pretty badly and cant do anything with it. I was just curious what is the best solution to go with. A friend suggested welding something on the end to shut it, but should I cut the pipe as close as possible and then close it off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welding is the only permanent solution, if its stripped out. As for cutting it close... depends on how clean you want it to look.
