I have searched and havnt found an answer to YET.
Q: How much would i benefits from a intake suction piping (not the filter, h actuall piping) and a hot pipe? Is it worth it?
A:
I am asking because i found a pretty inexpnsive (learned not to use the word cheap from marketing class) intake suction piping made by project nissan--ProjectSilvia Air Intake Suction Pipe S13 '89-'94 - ProjectNissan.com (http://www.projectnissan.com/shopping/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=&idproduct=4645). I know its not anything like a greddy one or anything, but i bought their solid mounts w/nismo tranny mounts (when they were still 150) and they are really good considering the price. I mean the welds werent great but considering the price, i think its reasonable.
Also, if i DO buy it (depending on answers/responses) might as well just get a hot pipe too right? Am i suppose to see a pretty significant difference or will i not?
Thanks

The suction pipe is just a smoother piece being aluminum, the rubber OE one with the ridges can cause disruption of airflow, it can also collapse but I doubt anyone has ever done that. You won't see any significant gains other than a cleaner looking underhood install.

alright thanks. i much rather have engine bay looking stock as possible, beside fmic piping. I probably will be getting it painted black with wrinkle finish. I saw a guys car at shop with it and it looks really nice. Also got a aem carb legal sticker taped (lol yeah, ghetto) on cold pipe just n case lol.

^^^Agreed. I did this on my last car, and noticed no performance gain, but they sure do look pertty!
RDM...what kind of effect does changing the diameter/length of the intake tube have? I've heard it can affect the powerband depending on the "tune" of the intake, but i'm skeptical as to how much truth is in that

i was going to order that intake pipe for my stock t25 turbo... but im upgrading to a gt2871 soon... can i use it for this turbo also?

^^^ i think u can, but ur going to need that adapter that will allow u to use that stock t25 intake. With that, i think it should work.

for $60, you might as well order some generic mandrel bent pipe and a coupler. This would also help clean up the engine bay if you aren't using a bypass valve (venting to atmosphere), cuz then you won't need to plug that port on the intake pipe

I don't see it doing too much either, the inlet diameter can't be changed so no matter what size the pipe is it will still neck down to fit the turbo. Though there is a downside to using aluminum, it will retain more heat than rubber over a longer period of time.

You're thinking of the actual intake runners, in the intake manifold - longer runners generally give you more low end, shorter runners generally give you more high end - you tune them using "velocity stacks" (that's the old term for the intake runners).
Changing the intake pipe from the turbo does nothing at all for performance.
Most people do it for the bling, because their rubber pipe is degraded, or because you "hear" the turbo much more with that rubber out of there. I've also heard the argument that the "wire" inside the rubber pipe can pop off and potentially chip your compressor blades, but I haven't seen it happen.

I know for a fact that my stock rubber inlet tube like moves and sort of suck in on itself when it was on the dyno last year, so I've been dying to put my aluminum one on there.
Only downside is that, I'll need to get another air filter because the pipe would not allow for the Apex'i SR intake kit to be bolted on there...
