I agree with you, I have 1 kid and a second is on it's way, I am not sure there is enough place in a S14 for a baby. Remember that you also need space for all that comes with the baby; stroller, bags, toys, gears etc. I never used my S14 to travel with the family.
You also have to think about the day-to-day; Get the baby in and out of the car, if you have a passenger, his knees will be in the dash.
I would not recommend it.
I also have 2x 4 doors and I am planning on buying a Subaru Legacy Wagon next fall to replace one of them. This will be better for the whole family :)
Buy an S14 and work on it ! The garage is the place to go when you need some time off lol.

the s14 is fine for a baby seat but it might make you uncomfortable with your seat pushed forward, depending on how big you are. When the kid's feet start hanging over the seat it becomes uncomfortable for them.
Buy the s14 with the intention of buying like a Camry or Tercel or something cheap to keep him comfortable depending on your budget. But plan ahead.

^BINGO!
i have a 2 year old, and the seat (recaro) doesnt even really fit in the "groove" of the back seat snugly, and if i have my wife in the passenger seat, she has to have the back of the seat straight up and on the first "click" in order for our daughter to sit SOMEWHAT comfortably...
...we have a TSX and she fits fine, but im going to be picking up a Y33 hopefully soon, to accommodate my daughter

If you're financially stable then go for it.. If not I would suggest waiting a bit. Not that I have kids or anything, but I was a premie and from what my mom told me the hospital bill was EXPENSIVE...

I have 3 kids, 9 year old, 5 year old, 2 year old. I have an S13, they all fit fine in it. My wifey drives a Honda Odessey Mini Van, so no biggie. I have always had 2 door cars since having kids. It is a little bit of a pain to get them in the back, but not so bad that you should get a 4 door sedan (I have one of those too, but my kids prefer to ride in a "cool car" not some damned "grandpa car").
My wife had the same arguement with me 9 years ago. Just get the S14! If you don't, you run the chance that you will associate missing out on the car, with your kid - LOL.

Don't put your baby in the S14, I always put my daughter in the middle of the back seat of my wifes taurus. The hump in the middle of the seat on the 240sx's makes it impossible to properly put a car seat in there. Being in the middle of seat is the safest place for your baby especially in a side impact collision.

I would recommend to get a 4 door. But S14 has enough room for baby in the back once they older might be to small.

I have a baby on the way and i would never take her around in my s14, i dont think its that safe of a car since you can't secure the baby seat to the center of the back seat.
