You should bust out a tape measure and measure things out before you start spacing only one side out.
Sounds like your subframe is shifted.

I used 8mm before, but I wouldnt do it unless it was necessary. Safer buying rims that fits. In my case, I just need to run on some spares that would clear my calipers until my rim arrived.

I've heard 6-7mm...but i could run 10 without extended, but i would never try it.

smallest?
you could get some aluminum foil and put it over your rotor hat.

Rule of thumb is to have at least 3 full turns for the lug nut to thread on. You can probably get away with a 5mm. I know 10mm is too thick.

Rule of thumb? Are you fucking kidding me?
You need to thread on the diameter of the bolt.
12mm in this case, which is about 6-8 turns.
Three full turns would strip the studs in seconds.

Way to be the captain of the FailBoat.
The REAL rule of thumb is at LEAST seven full turns.
Three, are you kidding me?
If anyone does that their wheel will fall off and strip/snap the threads in a few feet.

No I am not fucking kidding you. I am being serious. You can get 6-8 turns on a stock setup with no spacer. With a 5mm spacer, you can get probably 3-4 full turns.
So what do you suggest? What is your answer to this guys question? I do not understand why the stud with strip. The only problem I see is with a spacer the load is more concentrated further out on the stud which could cause it to shear.
And I am definately not a fan of using spacers on stock studs. You just don't have enough thread engagement on the stud. You do run the risk of shearing the bolt off

Let me ask you guys something...how many turns does it take for the lug nut to get to pretorque? meaning to the surface of the wheel on a stock setup. Is it not around 8 or 9 turns?

Well if you can only get 3-4 turns you NEED LONG WHEEL STUDS!!!!!! Not fucking complicated!!! To be safe you need at least the diameter of the bolt's worth of thread engagement, this is NOT a new concept! The studs are 12mm, so you need 12mm of engagement. The thread pitch is 1.25mm so that means that you need about 8 full turns to be safe. If YOUR car has only 3-4 turns of engagement please be kind enough to announce where you are driving and when so that the rest of us can stay the hell away incase your wheel falls off.

I'm sure it is around there because that is the minimum safe standard. With 3mm spacers you lose about 2 turns which would make it around 7 turns. 7 turns is just enough for me to not worry about a wheel falling off. 3-4 turns is friggin retarded!

Ok maybe I was wrong. This is what a friend that has been in the z31 scene for quite a while and knows a lot about cars. I could have swore he said at least 3-4 full turns.
And just to set things straight. I use nismo extended studs with rays lug nuts. I do it the right way.

I know MANY people who have been in the, "scene" for a while and know jack shit.
Just because your friend might know more than you about cars doesn't mean he's correct.
7 full turns at least. Shit, EVERYONE who builds/maintains cars should know this. Even the 70 yr old dude down the street from me who rebuilds his fords knows this stuff.
/thread.

i run 5mm spacers on all fours on my s14 with stock studs, ive been doing it like that for the last two years and did three track events with em, no problems, no worries, 5mm and thats max dont go any bigger.

is 5mm even worth it?
thats just going from 38+ to 33+
Ive stripped a wheel stud (on a civic) and it took me 14 hours to fix it w/o a press.

It takes a lot less time on a 240 because you don't have to remove the hub.
just need a mini sledge hammer and knock out the studs after you take off the caliper.

i run 8mm spacers, because the studs on my ichiba hubs were 5mm longer than stock.

Which comes down to basic math... meaning you're running a 3mm spacer.

i was just wondering... Hell if i cant run even a 10m spacers that means im getting new studs IF i get spacers.. Cuz yea 10m isnt going to cut it.
As far as threads, i dont want to fuck around ill just get extended studs to be safe. 3-4 turns sounds like problems to me, especially if im racing.
