I have an Rb Swapped S14 using a Power FC, and the tachometer and Speedometer are way off.. To save time in me troubleshooting, I was wandering if anyone here knew what could be the known problems and gear me towards the right direction. Thank you ~!

the tach has to be recalibrated to accept the 6cylinder signal, same goes for a speedometer, the resistance has to be changed. if you can get a JDM spedo you can recalibrate it to read 180mph easier than you can recalibrate the OEM USDM one.

my oem speedo is dead on in my s14 n i have an rb25,

the tach is off (redline is at like 20mph lol) but i have an apexi safc so i just use that

make sure your lower harness is hooked up and wired up correctly, it should still have a signal but its just going to be really low.

So does everyone with an RB all have miss-reading gauge clusters? Also does anyone know the process on how to recalibrate the cluster? thank you again everyone...

get on nico and talk to "Carl H" he's one of many who recalibrates the clusters.
i sent mine to him, works like a champ

awesome i got a hold of him.. he can for sure recalibrate the tachometer.. now what about the speedometer? Does yours work properly ? he told me.. that the S14 speed sensor might fit in the RB25 trans? Do you have any insight on this? THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR YOU HELP BTW..

no problem man,

yeah my speedo works, just get him to do both

Yep, i was just gonna suggest CarlH for the tach recal. Although i've heard if you get a Z32 speed sensor it will make the speedo read correctly. The transmissions are the same internally (IIRC), and the Z32 gives an output signal in MPH

its not that the signal goes out in mph or kph cuz if u look at a usdm and jdm cluster side by side (0-110mph and 0-180kph) theyre the same throughout..... you could technically just change the face of the gauge (the numbers on the backround) and it still would read the same...... the signal voltage prolly varies from one to the other tho....

Same here. I watched the SAFC and now I know that at around 3000-3200 on my cluster tach is the shift point (like 2200-2400 on the SAFC). That is, for everyday slow driving. I've been too lazy to recalibrate it so far, so I just adapted to it.

huh?? I didn't completely understand that.

I got what you're saying about the 2 clusters being equal (just marked differently). And this would support why my speedo reads about exactly 1/2 of what it should.

what do you mean by the signal voltage being different?

There is no KPH/MPH sensors. JDM and USDM sensors have the same PPR/D. Different models have different numbers of teeth and different PPR/D. But the JDM and USDM of the same model are the same. The clusters are just labeled differently.

so if i were to get a speedo face from a JDM cluster, then it would show me how many KPH i'm going....

but IIRC there is no markings on the JDM face for MPH.

So maybe i should look for a UK or Canadian Spec gauge face? Or it would be a fun project to make my own (design on computer and have printed somewhere)

rev the shit out of the rb.. it screams so it sounds like the rpm's are really high. ahhahah
