Been doing a bunch of track (real track) days at PIR (portland) for a couple years. This year i finally ventured outside of portland. Got with a bunch of friends and drove down to Reno Fernley Raceway for a 2 day event. it rained a good bit, well at least for reno it rained a good bit. I was a good bit stressed driving the somewhat daily, mostly track car down there, beating the heck out of it for 2 days and making it back without breaking. Ended up making it down and back home without any serious issue.
theres a couple video's i have uploaded,
This one i spun towards the end of the video

After Reno a friend had some car troubles and needed someone to fill in at PIR. So i took his spot. It was a very hot day, coolant temps were getting above 210. but i managed to get a video too.

We went down to Thunder hill in Willows, CA. At the time there was some fires going that covered the place with smoke and it was hot, very hot. but since my hot day at PIR I made some duct work to the radiator to help with cooling, and it paid off. TH wasn't the best experience, my turbo was starting to fall off the manifold and the gasket was 1/2 gone. to get it home i had to fix it in the hotel parking lot. was up all night work on it. very hot even at night, wasn't real fun. Again another friend had car troubles and wasn't going to drive so my wife took her spot and drove my car. She did ok until some guy in a subaru passed her when he wasn't supposed to and on the right. she started to get over to let him pass on the left and almost hit him. She was pissed and scared, that ended her ever wanting to drive on track again. stupid subaru's. haha

Fixed the turbo/manifold and a month later went up to Spokane raceway. Spokane was a very different experience. We were on the track from 9-12 and 1-4. tons of track time. went throught 2-1/4 tanks of gas. probably close to 300 miles on track.

Things Learned:
Don't drive in the rain with Hawk Blues unless you hate your wheels.

Those metal tabs actually are there for a reason. use them.

Its time for some slicks, and a trailer

After spokane i found my car smoking badly after startup. i'm pretty damn sure the turbo is gone. reason, well probably a combination. after TH i ran the turbo home without a gasket inbetween the manifold and exhaust housing. turbo has always had a bit of play, and lots of driving. still i think it should last longer. turbo is 2871r .86. so i've started saving for a new 2871r .64. moral of the story, take care of your turbo.

Next year adventures will hopefully include:
ORP oregon raceway park, just got pavement down. oh it will be so sweet.
Willows
Laguna
back to Reno again

Nice

"Don't drive (http://zilvia.net/f/#) in the rain with Hawk Blues unless you hate your wheels."

What did they do to the wheels? are those scratches or what?

the dust turns to cement. took me hours and hours to scrap the crap off. and try not to scratch the wheel

What didn't you do to take care of that turbo?

i guess the main thing was driving from willows up to portland without a gasket. i'm told the hot and cold into the turbo like that can ruin them. just what i'm told.

of course i bought the motor with this turbo so i don't know the abuse it had before then.

drove it home from PIR once with a blown coupler, idk.

That sucks about the turbo, Brian... hopefully it's not as bad as you think. Of course my turbo did grenade at Spokane and it had alot of shaft play. I also had fun driving your car on track... it's going to be a different animal once you get some r-compound tires on.

Is ORP near boardman, or is that a different track than I'm thinking of?!?
