If you decide to drop out of highschool, marry a dumb whore and have 8 kids, and work at mcdonalds, don't depend on everyone else to pick up your slack. If you decide to buy a 50,000 dollar car, making 15,000 a year, thats on you, tough shit.

Yikes.
I noticed a lot of pro-McCain stuff during campaign time here, I didn't realize 98% of Zilvia hated Obama.

I only followed the campaign vaguely, from a foreign perspective, and I don't actually know what the policies each party presented were. I wasn't particularly impress by McCain though, so I suppose that made me a de facto Obama supporter.

I like Ron Paul though :(

so what if obama does turn this country around? Will everyone who is badmouthing him now jump on his sack?

Undoubtedly. I have no idea what to really expect though.

For all the Zilvia Conservatives. keep your chin up. Get involved in local politics.

Posted by Neil Stevens on Redstate.com

Point one: There's no need to start pointing fingers within the party. This election was on style, not substance. No faction's to blame, and no policy is at fault. We know this because Obama won. He ran on no ideas at all.

We all went into this together with the wrong idea. We just need to learn how to win again, rather than try to pin the loss on somebody. No, I don't even blame John McCain and the mavericks like him.

Point two: This isn't the end of America. Our values are more resilient than Obama is strong. Our civil institutions are stronger than Obama is socalist. Our nation is greater than any one man, including the President. We will endure anything that happens under his Presidency.

Point three: This is no time for 'purging' anyone. This it time for regrouping and winning again.

Point four: 1980 didn't come just because President Carter was that bad. It came because Republicans and conservatives worked hard, prepared for 1980, got a good candidate, and worked within the party for victory.

Point five: 2010 comes before 2012. Let's focus on getting 435 excellent candidates for the House, 33 excellent candidates for the Senate, and excellent candidates for Governor and state legislator.

Point six: If you're pushing a candidate for 2012 right now, you're not to be taken seriously.

It was an inevitable outcome due to changing ethnic demographics brought on by irresponsible immigration. American and Canadians have suffered a slow decline in standard of living over the past fifty years but this socialism will dramatically weaken the USA and make the world very unstable. We can only pray for some kind of intervention from God.

McCain's speech was very classy. It was great.

I honestly always felt that McCain got lost in his campaign and tried to pander to an image that wasn't really him.

I'd like to think that speech was the real John McCain. The last of a generation that was raised with a respectable way to hang up the hat and admit defeat with dignity.

But...

ZOMG!!!!!1!

THIS IS SO EPIC!

The black dude got elected president.

You do realize that you just saw an event like the Emancipation Proclamation happen live, on TV, right?

In a few years, when you have a kids, and they go to school, they will read about today like you did about Integration in when you were in high school.

The average congressional pay= 170,000 dollars. Add to that money recieved from lobbyists, investments (old people always invest) and all the other nice perks they get, alot of them make over 200,000 dollars. thats a fact.

the sad part is, it is all due to young, uneducated voters.. time will only tell. i dont look forward to my family losing its small business due to increasing taxes on an already struggling economy. my primary income, my mothers, my dads, my sisters, my aunts. hard working people trying to get ahead in life, forced to carry the load of people too lazy to work hard for themselves. none of the younger crowd ever put any of that into consideration, i can assure you. higher business tax = more people out of work. nationalized health care?? what good can come? people wonder why canadiens come here for medical attention. you dont wait in line. you choose your own doctor. ever spent any time in a veterans hospital? i would never want any of my loved ones to get treated at one of these places. let alone myself..

first it was people making 250K +, were considered upper class. then it lowered to 150k +, then 120+. last i heard, people making $97,000+ were considered, "upper class". these people should be held responsible for the rest? 100k is hardly "upper class."

Ok I am going to speak up. I personally did not like a lot of what Obama was saying. Though it was impressive that he got out the vote more so than anytime in the last 60 years. That is both amazing and a good thing. Why? Because basically it has caused the American people to finally stop being apathetic about voting. It also showed a lot of people that their vote counts. Now regardless of them being dumb or ignorant of things,it will cause them to vote again in the future and maybe in a more informed way.

Also before people start with the sky is falling. I want to state something mentioned by a political analyst. Basically two things need to be kept in mind.

The Democrats will have to be careful in pushing the Democratic agenda if they go to far then in two years in the Senate elections tables will be turned. It happened in the Clinton administration.

Obama is still inheriting the economic situation as well. There is no room for raising tax's until the U.S, returns to a growth economy. That is almost 3 years out at the soonest.
If things do not turn around in the next 4 years then American voters will turn on him. This happened in California with the Govenator . He was voted in promising change from the mess that Pete Wilson inherited and made worse. He was not able to fulfill a lot of his promises and his popularity has sunk.
Obama will most likely move closer to center than people realize for the sake of running the country.
In the end we will see but its not the end of the World. I hope he is able to do the right things and not be as socialist sounding as he was in his campaign.
Of course most candidates do not make good on any of their campaign promises anyways.

Oh and for edacious about the bailout plan. Ah we dodged the bullet on going into a depression because of it. You may not like but it saved our asses. Oh and do not even compare us to Japan in the late 80's. Japan's financial system is ten times worse than ours is our could ever be. There are so many back door deals and graft its crazy compared to the problems we have. Seriously.

In the end Its time to move forward people and work towards our future. Lets put the differences and dislike behind us. The U.S. is not going to change tomorrow. Its not going to change that much in 4 years. Bush has done a good job of destroying our position in the world lets hope Obama can make it more positive.

how 'bout the horses mouth?

i will admit, he said that in november of '07. (so the timeline is off) he then switched it to $250k. then to $150k. most recent is $120k. if the pattern continues, mccain is correct. he will re-define "upper class", and screw ALOT more people over.

written by a friend who'll remain anonymous.. couldn't have worded my thoughts better than he.

Tonight might very well be the last night of the world as I know it. In 24 hours, they'll be tallying ballots and the news will eagerly show the end of one of the most significant presidential races in American history...

I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of dread about the whole ordeal. It feels so uneasy. I'm bothered by the amount of people who have no clue what they're voting about, the vast amount of Blacks who are voting simply because a candidate looks like they do, and with a false sense that this eloquent, hope-filled man will somehow bring them to the promised land that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed about. How they believe he is for them, and how suddenly, they'll be able to see the entire struggle of the Black race come full circle.

I'm bothered that so many Christians have been so completely blind-sided into sealing their own fate... how they can campaign and post pictures of a party that hates what they believe in, and sees their belief system as nothing but hypocritical lies told to control them and make them complacent. How can they help to usher in a time where they will be eventually be prosecuted for their faith. How can they ignore the examples that have already been set in motion? It defies logic, especially given how many warnings exist in the Bible about the persecution of Christians during the end of the world.

Tomorrow, Prop 8 won't pass, and although so many are so short-sighted to simply believe it to only be about marriage, time will show that it was only the next step on the agenda's ladder. What was once simply written off as something that was done in the privacy of people's bedrooms has now become something that no one can avoid or escape. It's simply thrust upon without your choosing. Soon, having the opinion that homosexuality is wrong will simply get you labeled a bigot and a person filled with hate, regardless of what rational ideas you have to support your stance, and eventually the problems facing churches in Mass. will be held nationwide as Gays grow fed up with these places preaching hate.

After tomorrow, Obama will take office, and eventually the Democrats will shift the balance of the entire democracy of the US to one side after they manage to successfully takeover the senate and put an end to our system of checks and balances. With that, we will see changes that will certainly shift our economic system as well as social issues. The American public has become drunk on promises. Intoxicated with looking at politics at face value. We do not realize that Obama's "tax cuts" are simply more government handouts, a system that is already so broken and taken advantage of, that it costs the country millions of dollars.

After tomorrow, taxes will raise for everyone because there's simply no way 95% of America can receive tax cuts when we are trillions of dollars in debt, and Obama said during his primary debates that "raising taxes was the fair thing to do" when asked about why he intended to raise capital gain taxes.

Clearly McCain and Palin are not much better, and it's why I go to sleep tonight without anticipation of heading to the voting booth. I'm only voting on policies. I see no point in choosing the same of two evils. It's like choosing between drowning in the ocean or a lake. Different places, different water, maybe even a different experience, but still the same result. I realize that the things I care about the most do not really matter in the eyes of the collective majority. I realize that this concept of hope and change and progress is nothing of the sort, and how we'll be dealing with a new set of problems on top of the ones we already have. For now, I'm just a spectator waiting to get his kicks by saying "I told you so".

And of course, I could be 100% wrong about everything, and things really could change, and if ever I wanted to be wrong about something, this would certainly be it...

But that's not very realistic now, is it.

My joking in my previous point aside..

What is the point of this thread? Obama won. Either you like it or you don't... Now live your life, fend for yourself and your loved ones the best you can, and fuck anyone who tries to stop you.

The election is over. Time to go back to the real world... Where politics doesn't mean shit and the day that it does is likely the day you'll wish you had that gun. ;)

Hate him, love him or indifferent, we just witnessed likely the most significant historical event in our life time.

Call me whatever you want... It should not be just that. He was elected president. His racial origin is black/african/whatever the PC term may be blah blah blah.... What does that affect at all? See what I'm getting at? Getting all "ZOMGOMG!!!!!!11111 a BLACK PRESIDENT!!!!????!11119393432" is just the reverse of playing the race card in its typical negative sense, but with the same result... The race card is played in the end.

The thing is, educated voters heavily favored Obama and the democratic party in the past...and god forbid a guy inspires the apathetic youth of today to care for something...

i say we up the voting age to 25. then we will have a much higher percentage of people that actually contribute to society and deal with taxes, healthcare, etc. the people that are actually directly effected by whom is in office. not the money sucking leetches that are the vast majority of college students (or college age people. myself included). the people that dont deal with their own health care. the people that dont have real jobs and pay real taxes. dont own homes or have investments. dont worry about insurance. the people that spend the majority of their income (very small income) on car parts, or the latest rainbow colored shoes nike is making and calling "rare". how 'bout that idea?

i unfortunately like this answer lol. Come on people, socialism is not a fixed doctrine. Don't be afraid of Obama "sounding" like a socialist, America is still far away of being a "socialist country." Congratulations to the democratic party for taking up most of the three branches.

This is where I put out a response that people will label as smug and arrogant and whatever. LOL

You don't like liking my answer because believe it or not, I tend to speak from a place of thought, analysis and fact. Most people can't stand that when they cannot and it makes them feel small.
I am sorry if my statements make some people feel small. I only speak when there is a point to be made a fact to be stated and information that needs correcting.

Hate me for it. You could do worse.

Oh and Nancy Pelosi is still a jackass and needs to shut the fuck up.

drift freaq demonstrated quite well how "the truth hurts" haha.

And yes, Socialism IS a fixed doctrine: It refers to a group of economic concepts of social organization that promote state and/or collective ownership, as well as administration, of the means of production of goods and distribution of wealth, and the founding of an egalitarian society.

seriously why is everyone throwing a fit?

nothing has happened yet.

Obama hasn't made any changes to anything yet.

sure he may have promised this or that for his term, but in all honesty, has there ever been a president who actually delivers 100% of what he promised in his campaign?

campaigns are to pick up voters and get elected, they are not necessarily a checklist of things to instate once elected.

the truth is, who knows what he is and isn't going to do?

everyone can start fleeing to canada and/or bitching about his policies AFTER they're actually in place, not because they THINK they know what he's actually going to do once in the white house.

the sad part is, it is all due to young, uneducated voters.. time will only tell. i dont look forward to my family losing its small business due to increasing taxes on an already struggling economy. my primary income, my mothers, my dads, my sisters, my aunts. hard working people trying to get ahead in life, forced to carry the load of people too lazy to work hard for themselves. none of the younger crowd ever put any of that into consideration, i can assure you. higher business tax = more people out of work. nationalized health care?? what good can come? people wonder why canadiens come here for medical attention. you dont wait in line. you choose your own doctor. ever spent any time in a veterans hospital? i would never want any of my loved ones to get treated at one of these places. let alone myself..

first it was people making 250K +, were considered upper class. then it lowered to 150k +, then 120+. last i heard, people making $97,000+ were considered, "upper class". these people should be held responsible for the rest? 100k is hardly "upper class."

we now have to lend our rights to illegal aliens? pathetic.

national security is now in severe jepardy.

the list is long, but i am tired from putting in a full day of work...again. i guess that taking responsibility for your own actions is no longer a value. a sad day. i look forward to the day i can confidently say, "i told you so."

Campaign tactics, we all know its bull. Although the federal tax code remains somewhat progressive--meaning higher income earners pay a higher proportion of their income in taxes than lower earners--it is less so than it has been historically. The Reagan and [George W.] Bush tax cuts have massively reduced the tax take from the rich, and the ... proposed Bush tax cut [in 2005] would reduce the level still further. More than a third of the value of the current Bush proposal would accrue to the richest 1 percent of taxpayers, according to Robert McIntyre of Citizens for Tax Justice. Nearly half of the benefit would go to the richest 5 percent of taxpayers. State taxes, heavily reliant on sales tax, remain regressive; and the current state funding deficit is likely to lead states to increase regressive taxes....

Is "100k hardly upper class?" In 2007, the median annual household income rose 1.3% to $50,233.00 according to the Census Bureau. o0o 50k more guys. Also, if you're gonna "cite" (lol) youtube then I will cite this YouTube - Noam Chomsky on Barack Obama (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh7ps1KWl_M)

median annual house income is largely based on more than one person living in a house. thats $25k per person in a 2 person house (common). well below 100k. 100k a year per person is upper middle these days. you can make 100k a year and piss it away, or you can make 30k and live like a fucking king if you're not retarded.

Also, Obama ISN'T our president. He has to be sworn in. did no one fucking pay attention in middle school?

5 levels

has a job = lower or middle class
owns a job = middle or upper class
owns a business = probably upper class
invests = upper class

None of you know what Obama is going to do.

If Obama said it or someone else said it, his mind may change as time goes on. Politicians always say what the majority wants to hear. How are you so sure your family and the people around you are screwed?

All the more motivation to work harder right?

For those people who havn't prepared for a recession, then that's your own fault.

If you can't afford to pay more taxes, that's your own fault.

Stop spending your money on crap you don't need. Leave some for a raining day, or in this case you should have put some aside for a recession. Not expecting something on this scale is NOT an excuse.

Hell now is a PERFECT time to put money in the stock market, I'm making money everyday. Stocks are CHEAP right now.

Here you go Repulicans
(taken from another zilvian, but not throwing the name into the mix)

:keke:

Dear Red States,

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington , Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.

We get 85 percent of America 's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama .

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals.
They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and
they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq , and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high-tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

Peace out,

Blue States

Honestly, after getting some rest and reflecting on this...I can say I have a feeling I'm going to lose my current job within a year or really have the desire to leave due to drastic changes (i.e. regulations). All that means is now I have to better myself and really branch off in a different area and line of work.

It's really sad how we are back to yet another president that almost 50% of the nation dislikes. :-/ This time I feel its more of a racial divide. :-/

i say we up the voting age to 25. then we will have a much higher percentage of people that actually contribute to society and deal with taxes, healthcare, etc. the people that are actually directly effected by whom is in office. not the money sucking leetches that are the vast majority of college students (or college age people. myself included). the people that dont deal with their own health care. the people that dont have real jobs and pay real taxes. dont own homes or have investments. dont worry about insurance. the people that spend the majority of their income (very small income) on car parts, or the latest rainbow colored shoes nike is making and calling "rare". how 'bout that idea?

I don't like that idea one bit (even though I'm 25). There are people out there that are enduring all of what you mentioned right out of undergrad college and some that have to get a real job during undergrad college. Either way, you're entitled to your own opinions and ideas.

to each his own. this doesnt hold a candle to 9/11. not to me atleast..

I'll agree with you here....this sad event will have a huge impact on our future and the future of the unborn. I really hope nothing even worse will be ushered into history (think WW3). :-/

I will be more interested in what he actually does for us, I could care less about the initial celebration.

and yes I voted for Obama.

We as americans need to realize however, that change will not just happen with one man, and that WE as american are partially to blame for the issues at hand.

We were the ones who re-elected Bush, for the simple fact that he knew how to coddle us during 9/11, and he gave us someone to point the finger at.

Keep in mind, in times of tragedy, people are always looking to blame someone, remember Germany and the Jews in WWII? Hitler gave a struggling country in the midst of a huge depression an enemy, a scapegoat, and looked what happened.

Bush gave us Iraq, and we fell for it. WE supported the war, otherwise it would've never happened.

So now that we've all forgotten we were partially to blame for the past 4 years, I hope we are not so blind and ignorant to think that one man will save us all from this clusterfuck we are in now.

Remember, it's WE the people. Don't talk the talk, just walk the walk.

-Joe

I have plenty of rants I could voice on this whole subject. I voted for McCain and he did not make it. That's life and the vote. I am not going to say I am happy about the outcome, but it's done now. I will say this, although I have no love for Mr Obama, he will be my next Commander in Chief and I will give him the respect according to that position. I am going to reserve my judgement on whether he is good for the office until he has spent his four years there. I see no reason to go on too much at this point. I am however curious to see if his "change" talk is just that. I cannot honestly see how he plans to remove all troops from over here in 18 months. Things have gotten much better here than the media will give us credit for. The only complaint I have about the race for president this time is how the media spent so much time praising Mr Obama for everything he did and skipped over some topics that were brought up against him. I saw earlier in this thread someone mentioned joining the military, I am not sure that means job security when you look at our last Domcratic President. Mr Clinton and his administration cut the forces by roughly fifty percent which is where the big surplus came that erased the deficit we had at that time. Anyway those are my few things I will say at this time. I look forward to seeing what will come in the future and I sincerely hope that some good can come of this and I pray that tere will be no assassination attempts that may make a martyr out of him.

OK, I think we've had enough, plus I don't like all the mentions of assassination.

Last thing I need is the Secret Service showing up.
