i am building my sr (slowly) this winter. i know a lot of high hp builds delete the oil squirters. but, i am not sure why.
so what are the pros / cons ?

Only reason I could see is increase oil pressure.
But why sacrifice lubrication and cooling of the pistons and cylinder walls?
Our crank weights don't dip into the oil pan so that would be leaving the pistons and walls dry.
I'd just buy a better oil pump.

after doing some research ive found that forged internals dont need the oil like stockers, and rod bearings are better lubricated by increased oil pressure. truth?

I know turbo magazines "700hp KA24DET" build deleted them by threading in bolts w/ machined washers. I will take a look when I get home and get the company name for you that made them.

hey ansky its me the guy from sc you sent the oil squirter to. Well after putting yours on it broke off too so I guess he diddn't machine the pistons like I warned him (mahle). Not only that but when I took them Out to block them off all of the others had cracked too so I broke them the rest of the way off and jb welded both sides of the holes on the squirters and bolted the things back in so I'm going to keep my eye on the oil pressure gauge and hope for the best.

wow sorry to hear.. but i would never put jb weld inside my engine! maybe its me but it sounds like your machine shop owes you a block.

Yeah but but he is kind of a hick dirt track motor guy ( You know sc and all) So I dont think he will probly not go for that. but maybe he will hook me up on my next visit

the stock SR internals are forged. the crank and the rods are. the pistons are cast. oil squirters are not needed. i opted to keep mine on my SR build but from working at a racing shop and doing VW F3 engines, oil squirters dont really do much. if you have a good oil pump and oil cooler it will be more then enough.
as far as plugging the oil squirters. you can buy plugs with an allen wrench insert in them and same thread size and pitch. put some red or blue lock-tite on it and youre set to go.
better lubrication is a factor of more pressure and also more flow thus it is necessary sometimes to increase the size of the oil passages.
some of the dry-sumped motor in built ran 55psi at idle when hot. at redline it was closer to 140ish. :)

I posted a thread like this a while ago and man was I flamed. Any idea where to find an upgraded oil pump minues going dry sump? I can't imagine the headaches from going that route!

obviously not a lot of people have any idea... you were probably flamed by the same kids that post the "how do i change my spark plugs" threads.
as far as i know, there are NO upgrade pumps for the SR. I have seen some one-off dry sumps, but thats far from easy or cheap. blocking the squirters seems like a good option.

I think I will keep the squiters this time and take a crack at modifying the oil pump..

this is my setup.
i took off the oil filter assembly as well and made a block-off plate with only oil inlet. the oil now runs through a system1 reusable filter.

if you noticed my SR also has ITB's and its a FWD sr20 head on a RWD sr20 block. went with an Electromotive TEC2 and made a trigger wheel mount off the crank.
