Hi,
B4 Any one says anything i've searched for the last hour and did not find what i'm looking for....
So I'm Asking About Installing G35 NON Brembo Rear Brakes On My S14....And Is't A Bolt on affair...?
B/c Brembo Caliper+Rotor On G35/350Z Are Not Bolt On In the Rear.....?
Also Does Any one hase any info About 01+ Q45 Rear Brakes On S14...And Are the similer To G35 Non Brembo Rear Brakes....?
Reason Why...B/c I Have EVO IX Brembo Brakes On My S14 In the Front (320mm Rotor + 4 Piston Caliper) And ENDLESS SS Lines....Ad My Brake Balance Is 80% Front And 20% Rear....
I Like My Setup...but i'm ruuning threw pads Like Crazy...And I Need Bigger Rear Brakes to balance the Car...
So Will a NON Brembo G35 OR '01+ Q45 REAR Brakes Be A Bolt On solution For Me...And NO I Don't HAve Any 300Zx In The Junk yard And shipping Used brakes From Japan Or The US Is Crazy (shipping will cost as much as BBk Rear brakes)....
I'll Lose E-brake And i don't care b/c this is a Track Car Not a Dr"a"ft Car....And I Just bought a 300ZX BMC So I'm good On the End....Also do you guys think the A 350Z BMC Will Work On S14...?
Thanks guys,
Ali
Some Pix For The heck of it (Already have HKS Coilover...So it's matter of weeks the i'll lose the 4x4 Stance)

why don't you just do the STI rears?
As far as I know they don't bolt up or at less I haven't heard of anyone doing it.
Here since you miss this in your searches go read up.

Z33/V35 rear brakes do not bolt up. Common sense says that if you know the Brembos don't, how would anything else work? The upright is the same for all models.
The problem is the caliper ears are too far apart, I don't recall the numbers but I think it's 122mm vs. 110mm on the S13/S14/S15/Z32/J30/Q45.
Larger rear brakes aren't going to help your brake balance as much as a bigger MC with a different split point. The front now has the majority of the balance, larger rears are still going to see the same force since the MC isn't increasing fluid travel one way or the other. The Z33 master cylinder is equipped with ABS and from I recall does not have a 3rd port so it'd be better to use the common upgrades already available, Z31, Z32, S12, etc.
I'd say to dial in your balance with a different master cylinder before option to go to larger rear brakes, that's often all you need to do, and from that point a pair of 90-96 or 92-97 J30 rear brakes will be fine, they're the same size rotor as the Z32 but with a sliding 2piston caliper, essentially the same clamping force but not as pretty or lightweight as the Z32 aluminum caliper. The STI rears look good too but they're no larger than the Z32 caliper, they're just gold and flashy.

OK,
i have a 300ZX BMC...So that already taking care of....As for Rear Brakes...there were NEVER J30 Here (half way around the world) So The J30 Is Out Of option...
For Rear Brakes i'd Rather wait And Look For 300Zx/R32 GTS-T/R33 Rear Brakes(They All The Same) Then Go And Buy Some STI Brembo's...
Why You may Ask B/c The 300ZX/R32/R33 Have BIGGER Piston's In The Back (4xmm Vs 35mm For STI) And Alot Of guys who Installed STI Brakes Say That The 300ZX Offer Better Braking In The Rear.....
Back To Topic,
Damn...i'm Back In square 1...With BIG ASS Brakes In Front And Tiny Brakes In The Rear....
P.S I've Found ferrari 550 maranello. Yes FERRARI Rear Brakes (4 Piston Caliper And 300mm Rotor @ A Friend Shop And he Will Sell Them For ~950$...
But I think They Are A littil Bit OVERKILL....:dead:
Thanks,

Then maybe you should tell us where you're located. I'm only going on what I can assume. For you to deem the information useless when all the facts aren't readily available is just a waste of your time as well as mine.

Apparently the new V36 Skyline / Infiniti G37 rear brakes should bolt onto S-chassis..
And they use a 13.8'' rotor and a big 2 piston Akebono caliper iirc...
Found this auction on yahoo auctions japan.. They are on an R32, but if it fits on an R32 it should fit on an s-chassis..

Wouldnt really help your problem, but I figured I'd just throw that out there...

Could have been adapted over. I don't see Nissan redesigning the upright to fit a new caliper unless the casting was flawed or upgraded. People use one of the OE bolt holes and then make a bracket for the other to fit the V35/Z33 calipers, I'm betting it's the same type of setup here.
But they do look good. 13.8" rear rotors would be complete overkill on a 240 though, plus that's a HUGE piece of iron to hang out on the hub.

ok,
I've EVO Rear Caliper+Rotor But i don't want to install them b/c of two things :
1- 300zx /R3x hase Bigger rear piston = better brake balance.
2- they need adapter plate...It's Easy..but i don't have the time to do,

From what I have been reading the G37 Sport Coupe 2-piston Akebono caliper will bolt up to a S-chassis given if you have a Z32 rear braking asembly. The Infinity G37S rear caliper is huge along with a massive 13.8 rotor. Just to give you a idea, the front evo rotors are 12.6 so using the G37s rear setup would kinda dwarf your fronts since the rear rotors are bigger. The G35 fourms already posted up side by side views of the G37s rear caliper next to Z33/G35 Front Brembo caliper, they are roughly the same size.
Anyhow, I would just stick with Z32 front and rear calipers. If you want the big rotor look you can get the Z33 adapter kit to use the z33 front rotors. Z32 brakes with good pads, lines and fluid should be more than enough for daily/track.

I Care Less For G37 Brakes...Remember That I'm Limited With Budget On The Brakes....
And If You Didn't understand I Have The EVO Rotor+ Caliper On The Car Already....It's Not For Looks...Far From It....Me And A Buddy With An FD RX-7 Are Having The Same Proplem...He Hase ENDLESS BBK Front And STOCK FD Rear's....
So Now Swaping Z32 Caliper+Z33 Rotor Is A Littil Bit Retarded...Don't you think...?

That makes no sense. The parking brake drum and assembly have nothing to do with caliper mounting. The caliper bolts to the upright, plain and simple. You may not can use the OE parking brake assembly per vehicle, but again that has nothing to do with the caliper fitment itself. If it will fit the Z32 upright, it will all Schassis uprights as well. If that can be confirmed, then it's another viable, if not oversized, option.

If its lighter and it does the job its not retarded. The Evo/STI/Z33 brembos are heavy as fuk compared to a Alum 30mm Z32 caliper. Yes the brembo is larger in every way compared to the z32 but do you really need that much braking power? You could of also simply ran the z33/g35 non brembo 2piston sliding caliper with some good pads and fluid and got similar results as the brembos you have with alot less bling factor, less un-sprung weight and better rim clearence.

I don't take a lot of stock in that post. It doesn't make sense to suggest you need Z32 parts only to fit V36 parts in place of them. Plus that kid isn't always the smartest tool in the shed with his posts. I'll wait until I see proof.

1- 300zx /R3x hase Bigger rear piston = better brake balance.
That's not true. First of all the BMC is what dictates brake balance, and of course, the BMC bias is matched to a system in which the intended calipers are used.
Secondly, because of mechanical advantage / hydraulic multiplication, A large caliper piston Can produce more force than a small piston, but at the expense of excursion (amount of travel). A smaller piston will move farther than a large piston with the same pedal travel, but with less force.
i.e., it's probably going to be a matter of a slight difference in pedal feel more than it will effect bias.
Since you're using EVO fronts already though, I'm not sure how they effect the system to guess at your decision making process here... but it seems like you want to "do it right" so my point is that you should be considering more things than just piston size. because "Bigger rear piston = better brake balance" is pretty vague and not necessarily true.
Another thing that would effect bias is if the 300zx rear rotors are smaller diameter than evo rotors. Brake pad surface area, too.
p.s. a complete stock 300zx brake swap feels great.

Your friend and you have the same problem, being stupid and buying front brakes before thinking about what you want to do in the rears.
If money's a problem, why would you even bring up "ferrari brakes" that cost nearly a grand?
I believe the EVO rear caliper bolts right up if u use a 300zx rotor, it was mentioned in the thread linked earlier about the Sti brakes (CHECK OUT MY NEW BIG BRAKES is the title)
frankly i think you should sell your evo shit and get 300zx brakes all the way around, and if u have any money left over, invest in some common sense

^^^ What he said. LOL Correction tho, its not the EVO rear caliper, its the STI rear caliper that bolts up to the rear.

oh well
i would say that upgraded brakes are wasted on the OP, but frankly, even oxygen is wasted on him.

Yes, we know that. R34 does too. They changed the mounting ears after the R34, so everything after it is too wide.

Dude,
Calm The fuck down....in case you don't know i have the EVO Rear Rotor + Caliper....they need adapter plates that i don't have the time for...
As Far me and my friend "being stupid"...NO your are the stupid one...just an FYI FD Come With 4Piston Front And Two piston rear....why to upgrade you may ask...b/c he hase 520whp LS7 Under The hood...Don't belive me...check his videos :

EDIT :
Another FYI 300Zx/R32/R33 Have the same pads/caliper...my friend done 300zx brakes swap front and R33 Rear brakes....and when want to change pads he order 300zx pads....so project RDM is 150% Right....

No one is doubting your friend's car. No one cares either. Swinging your dick over someone else's car on a web board is ghey. Very, very ghey. You might as well put your tongue in his ass and film it for us. So he has an LS7, I saw a guy down the street who has a Ferrari. Shall I make a video of it to try and impress a bunch of faceless people on a web board I'll never meet, or even care to? Nope. Pointless.
Secondly, you seem to miss a very crucial point in brakes. Do some research. Bigger brakes do indeed reduce braking distance and braking fade over a long span, but the brakes themselves are considerably heavier, therefore increasing rotating mass at the hub. The brakes have to work harder to stop the car due to their own weight. So therefore going up to a larger rotor/caliper is in fact a step sideways, not forward. You gain the ability for better heat dissipation and long term fade control, but you're throwing more weight to he car, affecting the initial balance. Next, the first and primary concern for optimum braking is traction, so if your tires are shit or if they're not able to keep up with the braking ability of the car, larger brakes will be even worse. If you can lock the pedal up and make the car skid to a stop, the brakes are more than sufficient. You need better tires to keep up. Finally, the bias you're running has thrown the car off due to the front brakes being bigger than needed, especially using the OE master cylinder. What you deem as needing an upgrade really isn't the issue, your OE rear brakes aren't too small for your application, the fronts are too big. Switch the master cylinder out and I'm betting you'll realize you don't need anything else.
As far as the R32/R33 brakes, you have the make the distinction, not ALL model Skylines use the Sumitomo calipers. The BNR32 does as do the GTS-T models, but lesser models don't. Same for R33, the BNR33 used Brembos, I don't recall the ones that use the Sumitomos but it's a only a few in the range.

I will chime in with my own personal experience since I have gone through
all, well most of the setups discussed here from stock brakes to what I have today.
I run on Dunlop Direzza 03G which are very sticky.
Every change to the braking system is tested after fitting.
BMC is a must when upgrading.
We got the European spec cars here that came with an SR and the Z32 fronts from the factory.
1) The oe setup did a good job but hill climb/decent events even with uprated hoses, lines, fluid and pads (ferodo ds2500)proved to be insufficient more due to heat issues over clamping force.
2) Switched to the front STI setup (with z32 rears and bmc on the way) and as expected the front brakes were just too much on their own. Car would "dive" under braking too much. Fronts however were not heating up as much but rears still were.
3) fit the BMC and immediately felt a good improvement even with the oe rears still in place. Had to run like that for a couple of event since the e-brake lines took a couple more weeks to get in. The rears were doing more work and felt a lot more stable under braking and VBOX (driftbox based on it) confirmed what I felt. Better brake balance FTW!
4) Got the e-brake line and proceeded to fit the Z32 rears. Braking improved further due to all the well known reasons and heat was no longer an issue even in the hot summer events.
5) I decided to give the STI rears a try. They were, as stated, heavy as Fook but I never thought to even compare piston sizes. They definitely matched the front better visualy but braking was not as good. Again, confirmed by VBOX. Although it was a small difference it could be felt.
6) Checked the piston sizes and after finding out the pistons were smaller I switched back to the Z32 calipers and thats where I am today and will probably stay as it meets my needs with what the car is used for.
Ali,
I suggest you do the following.
1) Get the BMC installed first of all.
2) If as you say you dont need the e-brake, make a bracket for the evo calipers and enjoy. You dont REALLY have to get the Z32 rears even if they do have bigger pistons. The difference while there, is small.
If you still want the Z32 rear and e-brake assembly the above will give you time while you source the Z32 rear setup.
Get that installed and sell the rear setup on flea bay
