Feel free to add.

1) Front clips would have been much easier

2) If you order in early winter you will learn patience cause you don't want to swap in cold weather.

3) Parts add up very quickly

4) SCC is full of ****.

5) The only way to do an SR swap for under 3,000 is to get a front clip and do almost nothing to the engine.

6) You will breath a sigh of relief when you find that it still has the stock clutch (and another one if it's in good condition).

7) Your "want" list increases exponentially vs time you spend looking around.

8) Friends who help you with jacks, engine lifts, etc aer worth their weight in gold.

9) It's funny how it never costs what you plan

10) You will breath a sigh of relief when the engine cranks and works properly

11) You will be impatient all winter if your car is stored

hahaha! Maybe so, then again, I know I'm pretty reliable at 16 psi on a T28... ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love a KA-T, but my milage was way too high.

14) Nobody wants the used KA24DE you pulled out of the engine bay.

15) If something can go wrong, it *will* go wrong. ;)

16) This thread came into existence.

17) If it would've came with and SR20DET already, we wouldn't have to go through all this trouble.

18) If Greddy would pull their heads out of their @$$, we have their turbo as an option, which would be a direct bolt on and legal in California.

19) There would be a small cult of people who will post a similar post to this with the thread, "Things I learned (or am learning) while KA swapping.."

Uhh.... what's the difference between the KA with say an FMax turbo which "bolts on" just as much as the Greddy does... which is just as illegal in CA as the SR is??

I said I wasn't gonna say any more about the KA-T (don't wanna make this a flame/ pissing contest) so I'll stick to it.... not counting this i guess :p

The GReddy turbo kit is supposed to be 50-state legal with a C.A.R.B. exemption number. Emissions testing is supposed to be their holdup now.
On the bright side, someone a while ago was supposed to be driving with the GReddy prototype in their s14.

I as well, would like to know precisely what part of that article was BS (besides the cost, which only became even more BS because they printed that article).

As of right now I haven't encountered any incorrect info in there about the swap, and I've ben using their article as reference here and there.

just the price which really did soar after their article. all the tech info in there is pretty damn spot on. we followed it in my swap and everything. and the clip cost is the main thing.. unless your an importer or a friend of one you'll be VERY hard pressed to find clips at the price they paid. (plus they didnt pay for shipping to the east coast ;))

I know the Greddy kit will be legal if it ever comes out... just saying that the FMax is just as bolt-in as the Greddy, and that the FMax is also only as illegal as the SR swap, if not "less illegal".

I got my front clip from the same place Dave Coleman got his from except a couple months earlier. I got mine at the same price. It was the regular retail price at the time. That's what they were going for at the time which was one of the reasons why i wanted to do the SR swap in the first place. I could have picked up a silvia front for $500 at the same time but I couldn't scrounge up the money just then. When I had the money in hand, the article had come out and venus was selling everything for much more.

What's wack is those wack offset wheels Dave Coleman is running. He should have just waited and gotten some real wheels.

25) label every vacum line while it s still in the clip

26)Front mount kits are ENGINE specific, not chassis specific

27) check the glove box for intresting JDM trash

28) it'll never be done soon enough

29) Dont try to replace the fuel pump witha full tank. its mess and gets you high.

32) You family won't want to be in the same room as you cause your always ranting about your car.

33) Mothers/wifes/significant others don't like parts piled knee high in the bedroom.

34) No matter how many other motors you've swapped, there will always be something that you will end up saying "HUH?!" about.

As for SCC. the article was good, but the prices were very off.
