View Full Version : To the potential thief of my car,

I'd like to send out a big F U. I doubt you're on this board, and I doubt you'll ever see this, but you're still a d***less b****, and are not worthy to call yourself a man.

For those of you who don't know, a car thief (or just someone who wanted what was in my car) tried to break into my car (unsuccessfully, thank goodness). In their attempt, they destroyed my drivers side lock cylinder and in their frustration, cracked the doorhandle.

To any potential thieves: Be a REAL man & get a job to EARN what you have.

you tell them. I had a friend recently have his z24 broken into... you know what they took... a tool set and a cone filter.... they unsuccessfully tried to take out his cd player totally cracking his dashboard and i guess in fustration decided to break all the windows. Probably a bunch of punk kids or people who have no lives at NOVA and are considered to be at the bottom of society.

Dude... the same thing pretty much happened to me when I was down in New Jersey. I was at a roller hockey tournament (ECRHA) resting in the hotel for a couple hours, and I came outside and the entire doorhandle was bent out of the door and hanging out. The door was f*cked up where they pried a screwdriver in to pop the handle out. All in all, it sucked, but at least they were TOO STUPID to actually get into the car.

Both of us are lucky the dumb sh*ts didn't even realize that our doors don't frame our windows, and it takes 10 seconds with a coat hanger to slip a hook in and unlock the lock (it's even easier on S13's... the lock is larger). On my car at least it's a tad (only a tad) harder since I installed the power locks myself, and the actuators directly act on the lock rod.... so you've gotta fight the actuator motor in adition to the natural force needed to unlock the door (which isn't very much for non-power lock doors). I'm rambling... and making it easier for people to steal 240's. sorry... but at least if WE know first than we can figure some prevention out.

The one thing I hate worse than a thief is a dumb thief. How easy is it to just pry up a frameless window and break in! But no - the dumb thief destroys everything for nothing.

Mark - who had thieves to $1800 of damage to steal a $150 (two years before, when new) stereo.

**just noticed Ace's post re: windows too**

Heh, when they stole my S13's stereo, there was no damage whatsoever. I just had to reattach the console trim, then I took the opportunity to remove the rest of the stereo wiring.

It sucked but, it could've been a lot worse.

Who posted about the theives unscrewing everything and leaving little nice piles of sorted screws in their seats? And they put the trim back on when they stole the stereo? It was a long time ago on Zilvia.
I wouldn't mind too too bad if some of those nice thieves came to my car.

lol...:D

I cant believe they didn't just smash your window and take the car like that. I have never had trouble(knock on wood) and I don't want it.

Just get a pittbull and leave it in your car at night. hehe;)

One time I had my car broken into, they took my ghey Jensen amp, and the face to my cd player.

I later found out who did it, got the face back from someother guy, and started thinking of how to make things even. I then found out the guy was throw in jail for some sex offense.

Oh well, at least I can now use my Cdplayer in my s14.

I had some nice thieves. They stole my car...which was not cool. However, I found the car a couple nights later. To my surprise everything was in pretty good shape. After they stole my deck, they nicely replaced all the screws and center console. Also, I just bought some stereo equipment and i left the receipts in the car. They practically stole EVERYTHING in the car, but left my receipts. awwwwwwwwwww... how sweet. They did, however, leave a cigarette burn and didn't fill up my gas tank! DAMN KIDS!

i cant recall when or where, but a civic si got stolen a while back and over 10k was taken out of it, the theifs had the courtesy to put stock seats back in and hubcaps all around...

i on the other hand had 2 laptops taken, 300 cds, mp3 player alpine unit, school books, my snowboard pack and bindings, plus what you seen gone in the pic, however progressive was on the seen in less than an hour and cut me a check for 4k, not enough to cover it all, but i was surprised they did..A++ for them

I had a guy break into my car over the summer and luckily the cops actually caught the guy in my car but not before he F***ed up half my [email protected]#T. Broke my boost and oil pressure guages. Tore out my short shifter, cracked some paneling and to top it off scuffed up my dash. Oddly enough I didnt even have a radio.

But like I said, they got him while he was there and now he has to pay. W/parts and "labor" he has to pay me $500. or he goes to jail. That'll teach him not to take my whole car.

if the laws are strict(death penalty) enough for thiefs and similar than parking tickets and so on then i 'm sure this type of thing will less likely happen...

Over the summer there was some jackass breaking into cars in the neighborhood across the street from mine. Two of my friends cars got broken into but nothing was taken. The would be theif pulled the lock out of the trunk of my friend's civic to steal his amp and subs, but after he got the lock out...he couldn't figure out how to open the trunk. Then my other friend had the same thing happen to his old cavelier and his new sunfire...they actually got into his sunfire...but couldn't take the CD player out, so they stole his FSM out of the glove box along with an ice scraper. They finally caught this moron when he got drunk and passed out in someone's front yard with a gun in his hand.
Luckily I have have never had my car broken into. But when I'm home I usually just put it in my grandmother's garage.

I realize, of course, that I could've had it a hell of alot worse.
I'm treating this as a eye-opening experience and decided to spend a few bucks on items to keep my car and my possessions safe.
I have a list of items I've decided to get along the way:
1. new/better alarm
2. handgun
3. lojack
4. 2 different styles of locking lugnut
5. wiring up some super secret squirrel kill switches

reasons:
1. old alarm is kinda suck and, well.. old.
2. mess with my **** & you die. simple as that.
3. can't go wrong.
4. the easier it is to take, the more likely it will be taken...
5. they'll need a tow truck to steal it.

My reason #5 scares me a bit. It reminds me of the Turbo Magazine Project Boneyard Buick. They had a Grand National that they were modding & doing a damn nice job of it.
It was stolen by professional theives from one of the writer's garage. The alarm NEVER went off. He didn't hear them open the garage door, or hear the flatbed truck come & take it.
If a thief is determined enough, they WILL get what you have.

The next time you go to spend money on your car, think about all you've spent on it already, and if the money you're spending would be better spent protecting what you have.

That pic of the black s14 brought back bad memories, that is exactly what my black s14 looked like on the outside when the cops found it about a mile from my neighborhood, only my interior was in bad shape where the pulled the wires out of the center console from the stereo. Funny thing is, they recovered a blue si right beside my car too, wheels and stereo system stolen.

It sucks because it makes you paranoid all the time wondering if your car is where you left it or if everything is going to be intact when you find it.

Interestingly enuff my friends new head unit (2k thing with the harddrive) was stolen two weeks ago. Two days after it had been stolen and we had thoroughly (sp) canvased the area, we found the local "thug" and he begged to return the stereo. We knocked the **** out of him, took the head, left and called the cops.

The cops asked what had happened too him and he said he fell...
I think that is the best alarm in the world....pure human Fear....

on the flip side my brothers assbuddy's car was stolen three months ago. It wasnt found until a dealership noticed a car they were selling (assbuddy's) had two different VIN's on it.

(add this to your list: VIN etched windows, lower insurance as well)

OK, this is the only time I've written this story down. Read it all. It will piss you off, but make you smarter.

OK, so I'm sitting in the passenger seat of my uncle's friend's (we'll call him John) car - a turbo Golf - at Seattle International Raceway. My uncle is a rich SOB, and he rolls with other rich SOBs, so I asked where is "other" car(s) is/are. He said, "Let me tell you a little story about that."

"I went on a WheelTorque with your uncle a couple of years back."

(a WheelTorque is an event where these rich dudes ship their cars to Europe and go from racetrack to racetrack...Spa, Le Mans, Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Magny-Cours, etc. etc. And they drive between them)

"I was driving my 911 turbo, when some lady T-boned me. I rented a Boxster and finished the WheelTorque...returned it with bald tires."

(laughing)

"So I shipped the bent 911 back to the states and decided to do a full build-up. Full GT2 spec carbon fiber body, built turbo motor, custom roll cage with special thin padding, all the goodies. It got 7 mpg on the street...much less at the track. It was wicked fast."

(I got googly eyes just thinking about a 500+ hp 911 turbo)

"This one day, I was out for dinner with my girlfriend - this is her Golf, by the way - and we were just pulling in to the garage. I open the door, start driving in, and I realize the Porsche is GONE. There was over $10k in tires/wheels still there, and almost $50k in bicycles and motorbikes...but the 911 was GONE. I called the cops. They said it was just like "Gone in 60 Seconds"...9 other super nice cars in the Seattle area were taken too. Ferrari F40. Lambo Diablo. etc. etc. They think they scouted it out, got trucks, then just stole the cars, drove them into the trucks, and drove to the shipyards. They think the cars are in Malaysia or something."

(I ask how much the car was worth...politely)

"About $350k....and my insurance hasn't paid out yet...but they will....they just want to try and find the car first."

O U C H

So if you think you've got it bad, remember this story. Oh, and by the way, don't buy a gun. Spend that money on a better insurance policy. That way, people can steal your stuff, and you just get new stuff. Don't bother with alarms either...that never stopped anyone.

Think about it. Add all that money up for all that extra crap, and you could have a nice insurance policy.

Man didn't realize how many lowlifes there are out there.

My brothers car had his window bashed in, nothing stole. He had a feeling it was this one kid he knew, because they started joking around about it, or threatening to break all thier friends windows. Some messed up stuff. This is why when I move we are not having unwanted guests, I am just glad I am going to be moving into a somewhat secluded community housing thingie (don't you just love my explanations) when I get my car, and 3 car garage, but 4 cars (it's gonna be a race to the house b/w me and my bro :D )

Eric: I have a great insurance policy, but to keep my rates low, I maintain a $500 deductible. I have 4 cars to insure right now (3 soon!)

Lauren: This was on my car (my baby!) The '93 is still in terrific shape, fortunately. I'll post my sig so you can see a pic of my car.

Max: Please consider thinking before you post next time. Winsconsin isn't known to have high amounts of crime (as much as a place like LA or NYC), and a simple alarm/pager may not be sufficient, even if only for the peace of mind of the owner.
Also keep in mind that nobody was rude to you, therefore comments like 'STFU' are unwarranted and uncalled for and WILL be met with appropriate action. I see you haven't been here for long, so this is your warning. Please also read the forum guidelines.

Yeah Thieves need to die, my cousin who has a pretty nice Si with about like 10K of work done to it had a run in with a thief. The car was park outside of his friends house and he has that alarm that is a silent pager. Well it went off and my cousin looked outside maybe just a cat and saw three guys going at his car. Well my cousin played for Penn State as a Linebacker and he was pissed. He went outside casually and asked them what they are doing and they were like "get the ****1 out of here" and my cousin just starting beating the crap out of them. 3 of his football friends came out to help and yeah it was pretty bloodily. but the thing is how messed up the system is. Since my cousin kicked the crap out of them they actually tried to sue my cousin for broken noses and assualt. Judge laughed at them, and gave them 2-5 years. So crime doesnt pay if the person you are stealing from comes out and kicks your ass.

I remeber when my car got broken into... I was at the mall w/ a girl, we were there seeing a movie. After the movie we're walking out to my car which was parked in the back of the parking lot b/c it was a saturday and the mall was busy. Well, we get up to my car, and as I go to open my door, I noticed that it was un-locked and my seats were tilted forward.... and my subs and amp were missing..... then I noticed my deck was gone too.
The really f*cked up part was that this all happened in the middle of the day, we went to a 3pm movie. All in all about $1100 in stereo equipment was jacked.... at least they didnt do ne damage except the f*ckers stole the bracket that holds the deck in. I was just glad they didnt steal ne of my gauges or my CDs, or my tool-box
