Just wondering if there is any way to make this work.

S14 chassis KA24
S13 tranny with S13 tranny / lower harness

It's a beater so I don't really care if I have a speedo or not, I've been driving these cars long enough that I know speed / rpm ratios haha.

Realistically all I need to get the car started is to loop that one connector, but I'd like to have a speedo and reverse lights.

Is there any way I can splice the auto s14 connectors onto the s13 harness so that they plug into the fusebox?

Did some research but didn't come up with anything conclusive because nobody talks about that.

I sometimes want to cry.

For starters, using the correct chassis lower harness is pointless, you gain nothing by having it. For years people have assumed that by plugging a manual harness into an auto chassis you'll magically have all the wiring you need. Since the chassis is auto, that wiring in question does not exist. Period. So using a harness from a different chassis is even more pointless since the neutral, 5th gear, reverse switches all have to be hardwired anyway.

Do you have the auto S14 lower harness? If so, unwrap it. You'll see that the alternator, starter, oil pressure switch, and VSS are all separate parts of the harness. You also have the CPS and rear O2 wrapped up in there, again it all comes out separate when unwrapped. If you're running those items you can re wrap and plug all that back in. Done. You're then left with the harness coming from the transmission to the fusebox. Cut and loop the starter inhibit, then cut all the remaining wiring out except for the green and black to go to the reverse switch. Done.

If you don't have the S14 lower harness, cut and loop the starter inhibit on the other side of the plug. People seem to fail at realizing this, the plug comes from the fusebox, just clip the other side and tie together. Looks better than having an extra jumped plug sitting there too. The rest of it will require hardwiring. You can use the S13 harness for the alternator and starter but you'll have to cut it all up, including the plugs. The VSS will have to be extended. You're still then left with hardwiring the reverse switch anyway.

Thanks russ, that clears things up! I was actually hoping you'd assist :)

I do have the s14 lower harness, so that's what I'll end up doing.
