I have an s13 sr20.
this problem came out of no where. My transmission shifts smoothly into every gear including reverse but when i get to fifth it wont go in at all. no grinding at all it just wont go in.

Is my tranny blown?

i never shift hard into 5th. if anything 2nd or 3rd should have blown.

If the engine is off, can you put it into 5th?
Can you force it into 5th?

something might be jamming your linkages.

there was a thread here a long time ago about some guy not being able to shift into certain gears. he then found out his little kid was putting bolts and stuff in the transmission hole, im guessing when the shifter was off.

yeah i saw that when i was searching but i checked mine for screws and even swapped the shifter while i was at it since i had one laying around. i may take the shifter plate and everything off but i doubt i'm goin to find anything.

good thing its a drift car i dont need 5th.

be careful
when you burn a tranny up. 5th goes first.
Burnt a Z tranny up in an old 510 i had once

top off the tranny fluid to make sure.

damn i saw this thread looking for an answer cuz it just happened to me also in my 88z which has the same internals as a ka and sr. anyone have an answer to this question or is it just hocus pocus? same symptoms as this kid above
